Yeah, I'm surprised at how many nerd friends on Facebook are going nuts over this, who are plenty capable of just building a Pi setup or something for less than this.

Really want to get a MAME arcade kit at some point too.

Re: NES Classic Edition

It looks like a Nintendo (major plus), with the controllers to boot and enough games that I find worth it. It's the nostalgia package as a whole that makes it a purchase. Of course anyone could go the Rom route but that's not really the target audience this is for.

It doesn't really seem that incomprehensible why this would cause so much excitement.

Hell, I might buy two. One for the man cave and one for the living room.

Re: NES Classic Edition

Yeah. I can run the ROMS but this has the look of a legit console that I want. I'm super excited.

Re: NES Classic Edition

I was a bit on the fence since I have all those games ROM'd but having a mini Nintendo on my desk just makes me smile.

Re: NES Classic Edition

For me it comes down to wanting to play Nintendo with my daughter. Playing an emulator on a PC won't give us the same experience I had with my dad growing up. This mini Nintendo will.

Re: NES Classic Edition

Even though I still have my original NES that works perfectly, I may also consider getting this as well. Really awesome idea and it appears the HDMI input will allow the game to not look terrible on a flat screen TV.

I still have an old floor swivel RCA TV from 1993 that I keep for my retro gaming.
