I get supply and demand, but this is the holiday shopping season. I wanted to get one for my wife for Christmas. Now? I've moved on to something else. I can't be the only person who wanted to buy this as a gift but as since moved on to something else.

It's just Nintendo being Nintendo. They would rather produce 50 copies of something and sell all 50 than produce 100 and sell 90. Also the same company that won't drop the price of a Wii U below what the PS4 Slim goes for.

ebay is over saturated with nes classics now

i feel like 1/6 are being kept for personal use and the rest is being resold

they on average are going for 225 now

For the life of me, I don't understand this. I am 50, so I played the original NES. Yeah, it would be nostalgic to play. For an hour. Then I would realize how much better gaming got in the past 20 years. I can't imagine a young person, who grew up on the PS4 (or even PS3) playing with this for even a minute. Other older systems have done this exact thing without any real success (of which I am aware). I am I alone in failing to understand why anyone would even be excited for this, let alone it be the hit toy of the season? One can just buy a used NES and the games and hook it up, if one really wants, right?

For the price, I'm interested because there are a good number of games on it that I never played. I remember pulling out Nintendo Power magazines and thinking some of the games looked so cool and also being 9 years-old and not having my own money to buy them.

Whenever I did get Nintendo games, it was my parents who got it for me as a surprise gift. So I played a bunch of random games in my time but rarely any of the classics unless an older cousin of mine somehow had it.

A part of me really wants to try those games out on a big screen while holding the Nintendo controller.

Yes, I know things exist that would allow me to play on my computer. But even when I was heavy on that, I still didn't play most of the titles I always wanted to play. Instead I returned to my favorites.

You'd be surprised how much it would cost to pick up a used NES and a handful of good games these days. The retro game market has inflated everything. Emulators and third-party retro consoles are cheaper bets, but most people would rather not deal with all that. For $60 it's just an easier option.

Nah i dont blame your comments at all.

Alot of what i've heard and seen from my friends about the nes classic is that it brings back memories but hate to say it as classic as these games are sitting through playing them i dont think id feel the same satisfaction playing something more modern myself.

Which is why part of me is glad it's not available...

I don't really like going back to play last gen games, let alone these. The novelty factor would be great, but that's about it.

Honestly, it depends on the game. Some game types age graciously while others age poorly. I can still go back and play all the Mario games, a lot of the Disney games from the SEGA days, and have even played through some top-down classics like Metal Gear within the past year. I still go back to GTA 3 from time to time.

For me, if its a good game it'll remain a good game.

Yeah, I'd enjoy Zelda and Mario and things, but a lot end up feeling rough with controls and whatnot now. Plus I don't have the time/patience to bang my head against a wall like I did as a kid. Back then I could waste 4 hours on trying to get past one thing.
