Cheaters
I rarely play this game Online, and tonight is yet another reason why...I came across a loser (SUPER_MONKEY_SD) who bunted the entire game and when I was beating him 7-2 in the 9th, he quit and it said the game was forfeited and his team won. Does this happen regularly to people? I'm disgusted.Tags: None -

Re: Cheaters
If the guy I'm playing against spams bunts, I fight fire with fire. The main difference is that I'm really good at sneaking runners across bases on bunt plays and I take advantage of defensive shifts by bunting to the mostly empty side, even with slow players. It makes these *******s leave after 1 or 2 runs of this usually.MLB: New York Yankees

Re: Cheaters
Yea, this is my big gripe with THE SHOW over the years. Online play quality is worse than when I first bought the game in 09. I used to play online a lot back then but the quality made it more frustrating than fun. Makes me think they have not been investing in server equipment to meet the demand required for better online play. At least this year they added conquest and more card variations for diamond dynasty. (previously its been the same game each year with a new control schemes added here and there). Offline though, this game is great.Comment

You can see how bad the server performance is every time you open a server-facing menu (the marketplace, or even your inventory). Imagine if that level of lag were applied to every action in game...Comment

Re: Cheaters
What also added to the fact was it was only my 3rd game online. Period. I had been competitive in both previous (despite having to get used to the slight skips when pitching and moment of contact hitting) and this was my first Win. But the player quit the match and also got the Win somehow despite the boxscore still showing me winning 7-2.
Very frustrating.Comment

Re: Cheaters
I can chat with friends who are playing different games, which fits nicely with grinding out innings.
I'm not sure how you can complain that "nothing gets improved" with a service you don't use, but Sony is constantly making improvements and upgrades to the online experience.
Online play in the PS3 era was garbage. Online play with the PS4 is not perfect, but it is vastly improved and continues to improve, which is a direct result of making it a paid service. The experience is much more consistent across titles and tying a minimal fee to the service does provide a barrier to entry that cuts down, by some small amount, griefing from abusive players.
Speaking personally, my preference is to pay for valuable services. If you are the customer, then decisions are made while considering your interests. Compare the situation to, say, Facebook, where the user is not the customer; instead, the paying customer is the advertiser your harvested information is sold to.
Oh, and considering that Plus was a really good value BEFORE they added online play, and they didn't raise the price of the service, a great many users are getting a much better deal than they were in the PS3 era. It's a bummer that some users feel that they are denied some level of choice in the matter of purchasing Plus subscriptions, but the amount of good done vastly outweighs the bad.Comment

Re: Cheaters
You should have a perfect experience if you have to pay extra and PC is still free. Of course you are going to say that PS3 online was garbage because you weren't paying for it and if you didn't make fun of something then you would just have buyer's remorse because now you have to pay to play online and you gladly do whatever Sony says and asks of you. I'm going to go ahead and guarantee that you weren't begging Sony to charge you when you were playing The Show on PS3 and you were having a blast playing the game online. PS4 is still P2P just like PS3 was only now Sony is charging you.Comment

I have no buyer's remorse. I was a Plus subscriber as a PS3 user. I rarely played PS3 games online because I consistently had poor experiences. Also, 16 is the first version of The Show I've played. Also, I was excited when Sony announced that online would become a paid service, because that allowed them to greatly improve that service.
I also don't need to make fun of anything. You made fun of paying for services and I rebutted your claims. You literally asked, "What is it like" to pay for the service and I answered candidly. You're welcome!
Lastly, The Show is just one out of hundreds of games and services that use Sony's online services on PS4. The fractional cost of playing The Show relative to the amount of enjoyment the service brings me is tiny.
Since everything you said about me was wrong, how do I go about collecting on that guarantee you offered me?Last edited by srdclark; 07-09-2016, 08:17 PM.Comment

Re: Cheaters
I'll say it again as well, the free games you get with PS+, if you choose to collect them, will pay for the $50 per year ($12ish per month, 40 cents per day)...
The 'perfect experience' is a fantasy, as it will never happen in any genre...I have to re-up my PS+ in a week and will do so without hesitation as I play online with lots of games...
In the end, you have a choice...To each their own...Comment
