    Recruiting 60 hrs

If a recruit has a maximum of 60 hours, and you start hard selling at 40 hours, is it only possible to recruit him at 55 hours?

20 hrs Soft Sell forces you to choose a different pitch than hard selling so you have to select a pitch with 2 green checkmarks and one red checkmark

Yes. You can use any combination of points you want as long as it doesn't exceed the limit.

If you use Sway, you can Hard Sell and Soft Sell with all Green Checkmarks. What I've done when a recruit is in their Top 5 is go straight to Hard Sell if they have 50 available hours, do Soft Sell and Sway if they have 60 (until they've been Swayed, then Hard Sell/Soft Sell), and Hard Sell and Sway if they have 75 (transitioning to Hard/Soft Sell after a successful Sway). Assuming you have good grades on your pitches (it's got to average like a C+, I believe, to be better than normal pitches).

I’m not familiar with Sway but thought it could be used to convince a recruit to change a red X to a green check mark on one of your top qualities.

But a recruit can only have 3 green check marks so how do you hard + soft sell at the same time without one red X?

You will have two different pitches with 3 green checkmarks.

I could be wrong, but I thought that is what Sway is for. My understanding is that you are penalized slightly when you hard sell or soft sell with a pitch the recruit has a red X. My thought was that you hard sell three green check marks with A- or better, soft sell three green checkmarks with two A- or better and one less than A-.

Even if you don’t want to Sway, using a Soft Sell and picking something with only two of the green checkmarks will give you the points that Soft Sell offers. I play it safe and make sure my third “red X” pitch isn’t a D or F, but not sure if that matters for Soft Sell.

I’m still not clear how a sway would give you more green checkmarks than the ones you need for a Hard Sell, but I’m interested to know more. That being said, the method I use still can get me the 4-Star recruits I’m targeting.

There was actually a test done on what grades you really need for a successful Hard Sell. Max on YouTube graphed the power of each grade and then assigned a point value to them. Basically a C+ average was the tipping point, and anything better was successful.

The Soft Sell wasn’t studied, so the assumption was that as long as the two green checkmarks you pick are good grades and the third doesn’t drag it down to C+, the Soft Sell should work.

I'm curious if anyone has tested this out and reported the results.

For example, if I have 50 hours available and the recruit is in their Top 5 so Hard Sell and Soft Sell are available, but I only have 2 green check marks uncovered and there are still 2 different options that could be the perfect pitch.

In this scenario, I have still been sending the house because I thought a soft sell with 2/3 greens would be a net-negative if you guess the wrong pitch for the 3rd.

Is a 2/3 Soft Sell (even if you guess incorrect on the 3rd) + 30 regular hours (Friends & Fam + Social Media) better than 50 regular hours for Send the House?

No...Sway is used to ultimately have two ideal pitches you can hard sell. And the one you successfully sway them to....is exclusive to your school only.

What did this mean in the mid-September patch (around September 20),
"Increased the penalty for choosing pitches that the recruit is not interested in when hard or soft selling."

It sounds to me that EA is penalizing you for soft selling two green checkmarks and with a red x. That is why I always sway in that situation.

Heck...when I have three green checks and still have some ? grey boxes left...if one of those is a great pitch for my school I start trying to sway those as well

But selecting a Hard Sell forces you to select a certain Pitch that uses 3 motivators. Only one type of pitch uses 3 specific motivators so therefore there is only ONE pitch you can choose.

And if you try to add a Soft Sell on top of that, the system won’t let you choose the same pitch again so you have to choose a different one, which can use up to 2 green motivators but you’ll have one red one.

As I understand it, a recruit only has 3 green motivators and then only one Pitch hits all 3 motivators

I thought a recruit only had 3 green motivators. So once you have all 3, start the Hard Sell if you have an A or B rating.

Can a recruit have more than 3? I’ve never seen one

I assumed the Sway option was to try to change a Red motivator to a green one for a recruit which could make your school look more attractive

Easily: never mind. Here is a link to how the Sway worked and you can get more than 3 green checkmarks

Yea sway is confusing to me, I know how it works but the question is trying to hard sell on top of the sway because you can’t sell them the same thing you did with sway
