Be a GM Mode and Offline Mode Brainstorm

Hi guys. This thread is intended for Be a GM and other offline players. In follow-up to AdamJones' ideas for overall improvements and ratings, he and I have talked about compiling a list of ideas/suggestions, specific to Be a GM and offline modes, that wil then be submitted to EA via our OS Game-Changer representatives.

I don't want this to get side tracked into a debate about who was chosen to represent us and how, as this is now a mute point. I have had contact via twitter with Ohhwayy, and he has been good to reply, so this is the avenue to EA we are being given at this point. If we don't at least try to use it, that is our fault.

Let's try to keep these suggestions creative, and realistic - after a couple of weeks if we can get a good discussion going, I will compile some of the most popular ideas and submit them to Ohhwayy and other Gamechanger members as a write-up.

Try to keep the ideas specific to Be a GM features, overall gameplay is a whole other issue!

I know this community has some amazing ideas for Be a GM, and I'd like to hear them all, so don't hesitate to post!

Go check out the BaGM wishlist in the last gen forum. They all still apply. All of the suggestions on the first page are what I want to see in the game.

That's not true, 3 don't apply! Haha. How about anything new/specific?

          -Multi team control

-Or at least the ability to PLAY ANY TEAMS GAMES on the Schedule

          -Scouting Reports for Teams

-Multi Season Stat and History Tracking...(Like an Almanac or History section)

The single biggest thing I want to see is sliders that actually work. I know we all want the gameplay improved to represent a more realistic hockey game but I'm not sure anymore we will ever see that. It's more important in EAs eyes to please the casual fan over us hardcore sim guys so were left tweaking trying to find a close to realistic setting. Way too many sliders do little to nothing from Max to minimum. Everyone plays differently so working sliders would go a long way and they need to save also.
I also want everything back that was in NHL 14
              Total 30 team control
              Total roster control
              Player edit
              Season stats in game

Sure they can improve many other things and should but without these things it's going to be tough to play again.

Re: Be a GM Mode and Offline Mode Brainstorm

Good start guys. A lot of this will run hand in hand with what AdamJones has laid out in his rating recommendations. In particular, team scouting reports will work, especially if there is more separation in the way teams play. I want to see a difference in the way I have to play when I'm facing the Bruins, or say the Habs, and have that difference reflected in a scouting report, which in turn will have an impact on the lineup I dress going into a particular game.

The stat tracking is also crucial for full immersion into any GM Mode. This is non-negotiable. If EA wants to see players immersed in multi-year GM careers, this HAS to be in the game. Rico, the idea for an almanac is a great one, and on top of that EA needs to make search options for that almanac diverse (player name/draft year/age/etc). I don't mean a click-to-sort search, I mean a key-in search.

Again, on that topic of immersion, league hilites would also be a nice touch. As people have said in the past, back in NHL '94/'95 we were able to see in-game hilites from games around the league during intermission. 20 years on and we have nothing of the like. This idea would add so much into getting the feel that you are playing in an actual league. I think EA tried to start something along these lines with their fake twitter feed, but the output is so generic is is laughable.

I would also agree that multi-team control should be introduced. There are lots of players out there who love to keep their GM Mode as current as possible, which would include multi-team control that allows for manual injuries.

Full player edit should also be an option during your Be a GM Mode, customization across the board is key.

Absolutely. When I considered starting this post, the obvious first thing that came to mind for me, was the ability for customization. As of right now, with the sliders as they are - having very little impact, we don't truly have the option of playing this game as a true sim.

EA needs to see that they are capable of pleasing both the casual and hardcore gamer, should they provide the proper level of customization in relation to gameplay. Full on stick physics not fun for the casual gamer? Give us the option whether to turn it on or off. This is only one example, but moving forward, in my opinion, the option for more customization is going to be key.

Including advanced metrics such as Corsi and Fenwick both in terms of differential and percentages would be really cool. (EDIT: including WOWY numbers would be awesome too)

Player personalities would be a cool feature too, maybe some players are more interested in winning championships where others are more inclined to stick with the team that offers them the highest salary.

It'd be cool if BaGM worked like the career mode in FIFA where all the world leagues are going on simultaneously and you can start out on a small league and work yourself up if you want to.

Tweak the in-game presentation of BaGM to occasionally talk about what's going on around the league - scores from other games, standings/playoff race, key injuries, etc.

Is this for NHL 17 or 16? I dont know if this would be too late for NHL 16.

                      1. Player separation
                      2. Deeper BaGM - like scouting, drafting
                      3. Have roster sharing - especially for future drafts, because i find that draftees after 2 years are near imbeciles, pretty much useless or purely filler for AHL affiliates.

                      4. Free Agency - typical role-play, chance to talk to players like extending contracts, terminating contracts, trading (before trading having some "parting" words)

2K set the bar in their recent NBA 2k15 and with their CHB 2k8 (thats back then, where you can play as drafts in exhibition matches, very deep franchise mode).

Not too sure what game this is for, I would hope it wouldn't be entirely too late to work 16, but future moving forward in general is fine. I like these ideas!

What sort of stuff was included in NBA 2K15? I only play The Show and NHL

I really the idea of implementing some kind of player personalities, in conjunction with Canucksss idea of having these personalities come into play within contract/free agent negotiations.

I also LOVE the idea of having multiple leagues running simultaneously. I used to play the East Side Hockey Manager sim a while back, something similar to this would be ideal. Open up the possibilities with Be a GM mode, the leagues are already in the game to do it!

                            1. Full Tournament Integration (Manageable)
They already did the Olympics right, and really it's just the world tournament left (and World Juniors; that'd be awesome). It's in the list of modes in the survey (possibly) for next year, so it's definitely possible.

                            2. More Realistic Trading (Semi-Manageable, Not EA Priority)
There were a fair number of trades at the trade deadline, but more specifically a lot of small-scale trades. I'd love for this sort of scale to be implemented while not needing to use Hard Trading, which eliminates the low-scale trades.

                            3. Different GM Levels (I Wish)
By this I mean it would be awesome to be GM of a CHL team, a DEL team, or what have you. But let's face it, this isn't happening any time soon.

                            4. Edit Incoming Draft Players (Doubtful)
This would add so much more depth to GM modes, especially since EA doesn't have the licenses for NCAA players (cough Jack Eichel cough).

I'm sure there are more things I haven't thought of, will post more as they come up.

I would love to have a really in-depth Scouting and drafting system. Ability to scout individual prospects, have scouting reports (pros/cons for each player), be able to see their junior stats. When in the draft, we should be able to sort by attribute (let's say I want a fast RW, I can just sort by speed). Maybe some sorts of mock draft system by experts like in NBA2k15.
