    Re: Interview with the Developers

Just watched and I'm really excited for all the new additions. I am worried about the clinch and the ground game tho. The ground game surely will have some additions but they mentioned that it is being simplified? That's scary.
Clinch also needs to be expanded desperately.

How much more simple can it be? Are they going for just one button to just "attack"? The simplified controls already made sure any halfwit could manage to submit someone. What more do they want?

Maybe they learned from StreetFighter that simplified striking controls could be a win. Why worry about that? It would just be predictable standard combos.

Does anyone remember how many were in the previous game?

the ground game might be the same, but maybe they made it quicker too posture up, so you might need too be quicker in denials. no long loads for submissions, but there could be a lot of submission attempts now.

Still not good enough after 3 years of development, bunch of trivial add ons which prioritizes style and presentation before gameplay, particular the grappling which is by far the weakest aspect of the game and most sought after improvement by the community. I was expecting new transitions/positions, new animations, the clinch is completely unbalanced and bare bones to, fighter individuality. We will find out with gameplay soon enough, if that's the case, it's a pass for me, i don't reward these kinds of half-assed products.

About that many. I think it was over 270 unique fighters by the time DLC was accounted for.

They got asked about Dana White/GM Mode and basically punted. Didn't say yes. Didn't say no.

I have a hard time thinking it's in and the non-answer is just to not let us down since there is still so much promotional time left to reveal things.

Maybe it's the crown jewel of offline modes (I doubt it).

                      But worth noting.

By the count I did at the time, it launched with 224 individual fighters. They added 48 in DLC. So grand total of 272 by my count. They added 21 new fighters when they launched 4, but removed 58. There are 56 current top 15 ranked fighters not in 4. If I had to guess, I’d guess we probably get 20ish newcomers again.

Several game styles including “stand and bang” “knockout” “simulation”.

As someone who wants a sim, sounds good to me.

They’ve also added scorecards for decisions. Another good add (no idea why they didn’t have previously).

Officially no Pride mode, but Nate McDonald didn’t rule it out in the future.

Same with Dana White or My GM mode.

As much as I want a Dana White mode I would rather them get the gameplay right before adding new modes
