Please Keep The Windmill Overhand Away

The arm doesn't even bend in game.

    <div style="position:relative;height:0;padding-bottom:56.21%"><iframe src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/rgO635paiKU?ecver=2" style="position:absolute;width:100%;height:100%;le ft:0" width="641" height="360" frameborder="0" gesture="media" allow="encrypted-media" allowfullscreen></iframe></div>

I challenge someone to post a UFC fighter throwing an overhand this way that isn't Roy Nelson or JDS. Even when they throw a looping overhand... It does not look the way it looks in game. Their arm bends. The only person who throws an overhand like that is Gumby.

Please keep that overhand as far away from the game as possible.... But if it has to be in... Just give it to JDS.... And maybe a couple others.

I know it's a small thing that can be dealt with pretty easily but I think I speak for everyone when I say we don't want that move being seen in game very often at all. It looks ridiculous and like their arm is dislocated.

Re: Please Keep The Windmill Overhand Away

That's cool but doesn't really have much to do with everyone throwing an overhand like Gumby with the power of Roy Nelson. You said it should be bad.... It's not bad in game. If it lands, it rocks you most of the time. Nobody can produce power like that anyway. It looks very out of place. Especially when most of the other animations look much better.

That aside... I agree with the point of your post. I just don't think it's a rebuttal to mine.

I still find it mind bottling that they went with windmill and not regular overhand.

          How about this one

          overhand+gif.gif

          Or this one

          rashad-overhand.gif

Barao also stopped Faber with this exact punch but I can't post a Gif for that for some reason.

You're right though... It's not very common that we see MMA fighters throw it like that.

Re: Please Keep The Windmill Overhand Away

The peak height on the Diakiese overhand looks very high, almost exactly like a windmill.

The overhands in those gifs didn't seem to have nearly the peak height and don't look as "windmill" like to my untrained eyeballs.

Re: Please Keep The Windmill Overhand Away

I think the devs have made a common error in their rationale. The overhand is not inherently a wild punch. There is a difference between a haymaker and a skillful overhand to loop around the guard.

Right... Those are better examples but still (in part due to angle of the gifs)... The way the punch is almost vertical and the arm is so extended is off. There needs to be more of an angle to it.

This aside... We shouldn't be seeing wild looping overhands like that on many fighters anyway.

Here's Rashad throwing an overhand again...

I hope this type of overhand is far more common in game than that windmill one.

Re: Please Keep The Windmill Overhand Away

Part of me wonders if they went with windmill because the devs are training kickboxing or Muay Thai or something. I'm guessing at what they are training, but if it is one of those two I'm not sure they teach overhand as a technique.

I believe, GPD confirmed another overhand animation in the final build. but Yeah, the windmill overhand should be have only certain fighters.

Im not a fan of the animation myself either, but I do prefer that fighters have the overhand as a basic strike because of its utility than not having one at all becayse the abimation looks janky.

I dont believe they mo capped any of the strikes, to my knwoledge all strikes were mocapped by UFC fighters/Pro kickboxers.

Can't we give fighters a more standard overhand though? I really hope this isn't the standard one lol.

All fighters should have an overhand tho
