love the UFC 3 game. Only one request, can you please put the visual arrow indicators for blocking transitions in a clinch and grapple for online as well? It's so hard to know which side to block online without these indicators. Thanks

Imo this isn't a great idea. The ground game is pretty nerfed as is.

If you spend a bit of time in practice mode you can learn the denials pretty easily.

Hint: the denial is usually I'm the direction your opponent is travelling. Ie. From half guard to side control, the denial is to whichever direction your side is. And to mount the denial is the opposite way and so on.

Ad since we only have one camera view of the clinch this adds difficulty to the process as well. PRACTICE is definitely the key though!!!! Does the recording feature let you record grappling simulations or no?

Currently It doesn't let you record grappling. However, if you set the AI to basic grappling then get in clinch you should be able to get the basics down. Try to watch the movement more than the indicator to learn the animations. You should have this down within 10 mins then put it on skilled and practice what you have learnt.

Shouldn't take too long to get it down.

I did this at the start of UFC 2 and now I'm pretty proficient in the grappling element of the game.

Maybe find someone to spar with as this can help a lot with improvement.

Guys, i just don't see what is wrong with having visual indicators online like they have it for offline? I don't play a lot and i don't want it to be frustrating when playing online, and u know how many grappling positions are out there? How about the clinching?

With the input lag being bad in this game, that extra assistance with the visual indicator would help especially for online.

Clinching and not grappling is very hard to see which direction they are transitioning so a visual indicator would be great.

In real life, there is no guessing on which way the grappler is going to transition and we would try to defend it the best we can, and trust me we would know which way to defend.

For the casual gamers, this would be more fun.

perhaps have them in quick play as default but with the option to turn off permanently i can see it being very useful for new comers trying online(one less thing they might worry about). Whether this could be patched in i have no idea

Yes thank you. Many of my friends who play these type of games are not playing for hours, and they just want to pick it up and have fun.

Well most of them told me, that UFC game is hard and frustrating because of the ground game.

Yes i get the fact that if we practice for hours in all these positions from clinching and ground game, we would get better without visuals but for casuals who just want to have fun with it, we should have that on.

For online, there should be an option to turn it on or off, it would make the game a lot more fun for most of us.

That would be pretty bad for people like myself that actually "worked" for it. Im not going to lie, to get all denials, reversals and sweeps it takes alot of matches (unless you practice which i never did) to simply make it to your muscle memory. But if that is implemented i want autoblocks and auto leg grab for my stand up because i play to little standup.

The visual indicators are there to help you learn how to defend, but they're not supposed to be relied on, this is why they're only on lower difficulties and excluded from online.

It would just make the ground game too easy to avoid, and the reward for being a skilled grappled would be moot.

The denials are far simpler than they seem. You'll note that the directions don't change. So if your opponent is in Half Guard on your lefthand side, and attempts to go to side control, the denial is ALWAYS R2+left.

Having to actually watch your opponents movement on the mat and in the clinch one of the few nuances of grappling left in the game that hasn't been in some way watered down by the HUD in my humble opinion.

The clinch denials are pretty simple too once you get used to them, maybe I've just played too much though.


Basically. Get into practice mode and keep the denial HUD on at first, but try to pay attention to the direction they're moving in correlation to the direction of your denial, then eventually turn off the Denial HUD and practice, practice, practice.

You won't become good overnight, and if you don't really like, or want to grapple, simply learn the quickest ways to get back to your feet using getups and practice the hell out of sprawling takedowns and denying clinch attempts.

However, if you stick with it, you'll be rewarded with a priceless skill for online in this game.

Edit: all that said. I'm not opposed to it being added to solely Unranked, if both players agree, or have that option selected in their fight search criteria thingy.

But only if it's mutual.

great post, yes many of us would like an option to turn on visual indicators for online, especially when it's for unranked. Don't see anything wrong with that when both sides agree.

Just leave it out of ranked

Hell ranked shouldnt have any health meters either

I'm up for anything that may increase the amount of ppl who will try online. I dont see why anyone would be against it being added to unranked. It does take a long time to learn the denials and this puts allot of ppl off, so having in unranked is a good middle ground for new online players. If your really worried about it being too easy to deny, u still have fakes which anyone who needs this will have no idea about or is easily tricked by it.

your making the game too easy, the divisons should be enough so people are playing against their skill level.

were only talking about unranked and isnt unranked matching everyone together now? this to me seems more like a comfort thing, where newcomer/casuals feel overwhelmed by the amount of things u have to do, clinch/striking/takedowns it is overwhelming having to worry about all of this and playing against a real person even if its not ranked. We need to get more single player ppl to move to online and this could be one thing that helps with that.
