What should UFC 4 improve in striking?
For UFC 4 a better balance between power, combos and counters needs to be found. My biggest problems with the game is the unreaslitic nature of power and counters. Thats my thoughts anywsys and id want to know yours.Tags: None -
Re: What should UFC 4 improve in striking?
I would like to see more fighter individuality amongst things like improved parries and shifting footwork.
Also pawing and punch catches which result in the clinch like UD3. -
Re: What should UFC 4 improve in striking?
Hand fighting , pawing at stationary opponent . The skip to the side foot work . Ability to run to the other side of the cage with stamina penalty of course
Ability to block with one hand and strike with the other to counter repeated strikes .
Forward lunging flying knees to the head or body not just leaping flying knees .
Striking in the clinch needs to be more dynamic .
Grappling overhaul . New system . Entirely from the ground up .

Just press the damn buttons. What do you mean?
Literally just press the buttons.
Get rid of any and all auxiliary combo systems. We got rid of combo multiplier and replaced it with another combo system that boosts combos.Comment

Re: What should UFC 4 improve in striking?
I’d like to see some buffs to the use of single strikes. At the moment, it’s hard to do much damage without throwing in bulk, unless you get a really good counter, and even then you are not guaranteed big damage. I’d like to be able to do massive damage throwing a single headkick, even if my opponent isn’t in a vulnerable position.
More variation in strike animations would be great too. We already have move levels, but it’d be great if those levels had different animations attached to them. If someone has a level 1 head kick, then it should look sloppy, and if someone has a level 5 headkick, it should look sharp. In UFC 3, all strikes look the same regardless of who throws them and what their move level is.
I would also really like to see more uses of removing tracking. I love how we can lunge out of the way of strikes and end up behind opponents now. I’d like that to be something that happens often. Maybe not directly behind, but to the side. Basically I’m asking for the use of angles to be a big part of striking. Not sure how this could be done, but I think itd be cool to investigate the possibility of disabling tracking altogether, or giving us the ability to turn it off at the press of a button. If I hold down on the right stick while my opponent is standing still, I’d like to circle around to their side and eventually to their back. I don’t want their fighter to follow me without them making it happen. Maybe a way to do it would be by having a click of one of the analog sticks lock onto our opponent, but when they lunge, the lock on breaks, so you have to lock on manually afterwards.Comment

Re: What should UFC 4 improve in striking?
Successful striking is heavily reliant on combinations though. I like the idea of only high level boxers pulling off more efficient smoother boxing combinations than everybody else

Re: What should UFC 4 improve in striking?
Requests from a top 100 player
Hand fighting
Rhythm manipulation (choose fast or hard strikes)
Different animations when throwing the same punch(irl no punch is thrown the same way)
Power stat seperated by limb
Freeflowing combosComment

Re: What should UFC 4 improve in striking?
Bad/okay/high-level animations, as suggested by MartialMind. This would help the game a lot in the way of fighter individuality and realism.
Different striking styles, e.g. technical strikers (Diaz, Holloway) vs one-punch knockout artists (Hunt) - the former feel kinda like they do now, but the latter should be able to end you with one punch. I actually believe one punch knockouts should be a very real possibility no matter who throws the punch (obviously if it's a one-punch KO artist the likelihood should be much bigger). Right now a fighter must be at a severe vulnerability disadvantage and even then the worst can happen often is a level 2 KD. We need fight enders. Wild hook lands from Jeremy Stephens and the guy doesn't move. Watch out for that. This involves a level of randomness which I suppose won't sit well with the top players, but MMA is not balanced and that's why it's so exciting.
On that note - there are way too many rocks and knockdowns. I've started counting them recently, in multiple fights I need at least 8 rocks, sometimes 10. I shouldn't need that many as Whittaker to KO Adesanya. Same if I'm being knocked down 8 times. It's extremely unrealistic and ties in with the previous point. You should be done much earlier.

Re: What should UFC 4 improve in striking?
Some good ideas already so I dont have to say a lot, but for me i'd say if we can get rid of a bit of the wonkyness in the striking. Like strikes being magnet like and zipping towards you when they are clearly out of range. It's like the striking is so range dependant, that in certain situations a strike will just flat out zoom at you at seemingly increased speed. Idk what can be done about this, but it's definitely annoying.Comment

Re: What should UFC 4 improve in striking?
Dont we just press the damb buttons now? Right now combos are unrealistic due to counters mainly, we cant fire a counter off whike blocking or catch and counter? Conbos are faster than two individual strikes as there is no stance reset.Comment

What should UFC 4 improve in striking?
I would implement styles like in Fight Night Champion. Different blocking styles would be more effective against different punches and different stances would give you faster punches or stronger punches.
Most fighters use the basic earmuffs, but Yoel uses the cross guard for example. Maybe include these like the Gaethje block.
Maybe a class system like Brawler, Technical, Mixed, etc. Not to restrict fighters from throwing certain strikes, but to make them more effective at those strikes.
Basically, make a fighters basic animations more impactful on their overall performance. TJ has a super slick stance and therefore should have some inherent speed value increases. At the same time, drawbacks in place like a delayed time on lead overhands because his lead arm is so low. Things like that.
A ridiculous amount of animations for every strike. Like, an insane amount of strike choices for a jab. The striking needs only a little tweaking like separating power ratings and some additions to angles and counter options. The rest of the striking time should be spent on making a metric ton of animations.
That will also work with CAFs!!!! Ideally, these animations would be from the jump so you could use them, but also for DLC fighters. Currently, things like the Gaethje block cannot be added to a CAF. I refuse to believe there isn’t some sort of work around to ensure some dunce’s game doesn’t explode because he had a DLC CAF moveset and deleted his update data.
