    Did Pitch Speeds Increase Slightly

I'm suddenly a little late on most fastballs. I've made no changes to sliders, but the game did get a patch.

I've been absolutely hammering the ball since the patch. So I'm not sure.

Man, I'm not. I'm late on everything.

Honestly, when the patch first rolled out the pitch speeds actually felt slower. It was mostly a placebo effect as once I got a few games in the pitch speeds felt like they were back to normal. I think the change to stride timing might be throwing some people off. Even if you’re not using tempo hitting, if one of your batter has an exaggerated stride timing, you can’t help but notice it. Prior to the patch the stride was starting on fastball before the pitcher planted their lead foot. Now the stride timing is starting slightly after the ball is released. It’s a very subtle change and doesn’t affect gameplay if you are not using “temp hitting”. But definitely is a little visually different for hitters that have a big leg lift on their stride. Took me about 4 games to get used to but now I don’t even notice it.

I still don't even really know what they're talking about with the stride timing stuff. I use timing hitting, would that have any effect on that at all? Is that why I'm mashing all of a sudden or is it just a hot strak?

It's 100% something. I've had to reduce the pitch speed by one all of a sudden. Maybe it's visual and I was timing up the stride with my swing on directional hitting, but it's something because I'm late on fast balls to the point that I have to go to a slower setting.

Pitch speeds are the same. It is placebo.

Sorry, but there's no question. The timing of the game has completely changed for me.

I haven't noticed any differences when playing. Hitting/timing experience has been the same now as its been since launch.
I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(

The only thing that changed was the stride timing, but the pitch speeds are the same. We go through this every time a patch is released and people think something changed because their play is slightly off even when there are no changes posted. It’s always placebo unless they say something drastic has changed in the patch notes.

I think if you're thinking the pitch speeds are different, most of the time it's you. Could just be you didn't sleep as well. If you're a little tired, you're probably going to be a little late. If you're really well rested and locked in, the ball is probably going to look a little slower. Could be other things, but I think people generally underestimate the impact sleep can have on your brain and body, especially response and reaction times.

I had a few days recently where I slept terribly. Couldn't really hit. Finally got a good night sleep, suddenly I can hit fastballs and I'm not chasing as much.

I say feel free to adjust fastball/off speed speed sliders based on how your feeling.

I’m the opposite lol. More alert and focused I am the more I’m early or late and don’t hit that well. When I focus less and just relax I hit better.

Was going to say exactly that. Or even if you don’t play for a few days and then come back to the game, I always find that I’m late to every pitch. Once I get a few at-bats, then I’m back with my timing again.

You can definitely over focus, and get to the point where your thinking too much and not reacting enough. I do that sometimes too. Information overload.

But that's not really what I'm talking about. I'm talking about your brain processing information more slowly and being less able to react quickly to stimuli for a variety of reasons. Like if you ever do one of those reaction time tests on your phone when you're well rested vs when you're tired, your response times are going to be a lot slower if you're tired.

But those are both good examples of why pitches may seem faster or slower to you on given days, even when the game hasn't changed. Which, fwiw, is how it works in sports too. That's why sports teams (especially in baseball) worry so much about sleep for players and also try and simplify the game when a player is struggling.

                              95% the same game for 15 ******* years ..
Yeah dude, this patch completely changed timing. Sure thing.
                              Just one man’s opinion.
I don’t actually care about any of this.
