Pitching too easy??
Has anyone else noticed since the last patch that pitching has gotten easier? I usually pitch on Hall of Fame and ion the last two weeks I started dominating on that and in Legend and now I’m in GOAT mode, and it still seems pretty laid back.NFL- Minnesota Vikings
MLB- New York Mets
NHL- New York Rangers
NCAA- West Virginia Mountaineers -
I haven't noticed any difference in pitching/cpu hitting now versus when the game first launched. I still have games where the cpu just absolutely rips the cover off the ball and games where I can get to double digit strikeouts, and most often something in between those "extremes".
This is on default Legend using the pitching meter.I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

It's felt the same since release. I've been on GOAT using the pitching meter, and I'll have stretches where I'm lights out, and then stretches where I'm getting absolutely shelled. Just give it some time. It always evens out.👍 1Comment

Unless you're playing online, if its become too easy, its time to develop slideritis and start tweaking, lol.T-BONE.

100% it’s easier, I’ve noticed the difference for sure. They chase more than they used to, and don’t punish mistakes as often. Tuning pitching and cpu hitting has been the bane of my existence over the past few years so I notice any subtle change in behavior.. when this game released I glowed with joy in how dynamic and dangerous the cpu was on GOAT. I pitched on GOAT using pinpoint with control and consistency at 0 and the game was SO challenging it was amazing. My era was like 5 or 6 after several weeks which was totally fine by me as I was at 0 control and consistency and I could only make it better by upping the slider… now since a few patches ago I’m shutting them down easily without issue on goat with the same sliders. I’ve played over 20 games since the patch and the consistency in their offence is no longer there. People can feel that it hasn’t changed and that’s great for their experience, but for me I can assure you something has changed and it could be related to a few tweaks to low and away pitches or pci sizes or something that had adversely impacted CPU hittingLast edited by baseballguy99; 05-22-2025, 08:07 PM.👍 1Comment

It's seemed too easy sprinkled in with RNG CPU cheese to compensate. Most of the game I'll dominate hitters. I've even done some testing where I just throw a bunch of fastballs straight down the middle. Sometimes they don't even swing at a pitch like that. Sometimes they take a pitch like that for strike 3. But then the compensation comes when I throw a pitch, the pitcher misses location even when he has 99 placement for that pitch (I've even tried the pulse style here and even perfect pulse pitches don't deliver it where I aim every time), he throws it high in the zone and gives up a HR.
So it's dominate the hitters for the entire game and give up 1-2 random home runs. No stringing hits together or small ball.
I'm in the process of experimenting with sliders ATM, if I get a set I'm satisfied with I'll post them.Comment

Have to say yes, emphatically.
Got that Randy Johnson 1991 Topps card (which I LOVE!)... *WILD* Randy Johnson.. 17 control or something... I have like a 10:1 K/BB rate..
Edit; 29 control with the upped DD multiplier.. but as a point of reference; 1991 Unit had 10.2 K/9 and 6.8 BB/9... 1.5 K/BB ratio..
I don't expect the game to be a mirror reflection or real life. But I do expect a little more realism.
.. I haven't plunked a guy yet either. Granted, I don't throw Mr Snappy inside to righties unless I'm ahead in the count. But I do go up and in with the fastball all the time.Last edited by Madden08PCgmr; 05-29-2025, 10:42 AM.You want free speech?

Ticking both CPU contact and timing up 2 times from the default middle in sliders seemed to make a big difference for me. They're making contact and not swinging and missing nearly as much. My ace will still strike out between 6-12 hitters an outing, but that's down from 12-16. I also ticked power down 2-3 ticks. With this setup I've gotten less RNG cheese home runs, but the CPU has strung together more hits. They still do hit home runs, but it's usually when I screw up or with a weaker pitcher. Seems to be a more balanced experience now.👍 1Comment

I have definitely seen a change. HOF default sliders, classic pitching, clean screen (no ball marker). Prior to the last patch or two the CPU was very much a threat. Now not so much. Doesn't matter if I continue games within my franchise, start a new franchise, or play solo exhibition games, the CPU offense is not packing the same punch as it did prior.👍 1Comment

It’s so disappointing that CPU hitting has regressed… GOAT was the reason I purchased 25 in all honesty… having 6 shutouts in the first month of my restarted franchise sucks… I miss the challenge when the game launched.. they are just helpless now with no pitch pattern recognition. U can spam the same low and away pitch and they will never adjustComment

something has definitely changed in the CPU hitting. more swings and misses and a few go to locations.
maybe removing all the homeplate guides and pitch icons and going clean screen fixes this up to some degree?
maybe reducing power (and solid hits) by a click and and adding contact a click or two for the cpu will work? i'm not sure. but i know i'm not keen to jump down a slider rabbit hole mid franchiseComment

you use old rosters huh? maybe the differences in new roster updates and player ratings is what drives all this?
i too am on legendary; meter; default sliders - i lead the mlb in strikeouts by more than 20 in the 1st month of my whitesox franchise, am 3rd in era and 80 rated tanner houck is my staff ace.
cpu hitting has definitely suffered since the game was released.
last two games i raised CPU contact by 2 clicks, dropped solid hits and power by one, and went from averaging 14 SO's per game down to 8 and 9 (which is still a tad too high for mlb averages) for those two games. small sample size, but so far it's heading in a much better direction.
but now the cpu is getting 12 hits per game, up from 6 (which was way too low) ... considering the dodgers lead the mlb with 9.24 hits pg, i still have a sweet spot to find. but i loathe jumping into the rabbit hole of sliders when all i want to do is play franchise.

I’m not sure that has anything to do with the differing experiences but I’ve played with the same settings and default sliders since day one and I have not experienced any changes to the CPU offense or my pitching efficiency from then to now
