I wait until the 1st huge live roster comes out with all the attribute changes, then I play all 162 using the Mets with quick counts. I sim spring training, then go team by team and set the rosters/lineups/rotations. I rarely sim anything, occasionally I'll sim the last few innings of a really huge blow out game. I stay about a month behind the real season. I'm all about keeping everything true to the real season. I do 30 team control, I keep all rosters/lineups/trades/injuries(will demote player if there injured) etc. etc. true to the real MLB season. I'll even update the attributes if there are players who have had huge increases/decreases in the live updates. Usually I'm done by November-ish, I'll then start another franchise with updated offseason rosters and play that until the new game comes out.

I'm also a Quick Counts, play every game guy. I'll generally get through two full seasons and part way into a third before the next year's edition comes out.
Quick Counts unfortunately does not help me much with walk totals. Even after playing this game for over a decade I still swing at all kinds of garbageComment

Re: How do you play franchise mode
After many years of trying to find the right balance of feeling like I'm playing enough vs sim stats, I've finally found a schedule that I enjoy and is rewarding in the process.
I Quick Manage the last game of every series and sim the rest. Once in QM, I'll hop in and bat/pitch ONLY with runners in scoring position and finish that inning out. For an added challenge, sometimes I restrict myself to doing this only once a game, so that way I have to pick the moment that I feel gives me the best opportunity to come away with the outcome that I want.
I've always loved playing RTTS (even the defensive side!) so to break up any monotony, I will occasionally go into games while player locking on a guy who is on a cold streak. If this happens to be a couple of players, I'll do that until they both snap out of it.
**Also worth noting that this has to be done on default sliders for some reason. I've tried with slider sets and it simply doesn't work. The QM engine spits out horrendous games every time. Even if you go back and reset them to default, it's ruined. I play on default All Star, but I would hope this works at any level.Comment

Re: How do you play franchise mode
I play every game for my team, and I bat for both teams. I sim spring training though.
I control all roster moves, trades, finances, etc, except for moving players between minor league teams.Comment
