I want to love the sport the way I once did... but I'm not sure that can happen.

Junior made me a baseball fan. He was unlike anything Seattle sports ever had; he became the best player in the League [pre-steroid Barry Bonds]

Then Randy Johnson found the strike zone.. then Edgar became a doubles machine.. they had a *brutal* 1992... which put them in position to draft A-Rod.

All that talent.. they never won anything of significance... but then I could just switch over to TBS and the Braves. And I love that team and so many of those players just as much.

It was just a special time. I want it back so bad at this point of my life. No basketball team in Seattle. My true love of the NFL is really waning. I watch most every Mariner game, but the fire just isn't there, background noise alot of nights.

I will swing dramatically the other way if ownership doesn't shove all their chips to the middle at some point while they have this stockpile of elite young starting pitching. It would be the unforgivable sin. The team will be dead to me.

I feel this.

I grew up up Denver, naturally became a Rockies fan. Watched many games due to having a job there for a few seasons. Got to watch Helton club some of the 49 hrs in his prime.

That team has pissed away so much talent from LeMahieu, Story, Walker, Arenado, etc etc that it was just destroying my love for the game. I know that sounds silly, but I hadn't watched October ball in years, and the owners could care less about winning. The fans just keep going to games win or lose, and it was sucking the life outta me.

Living in the Midwest now, I just had to switch it up. I have not turned back.

You use and get so involved in fictional rosters for your franchise, you wonder where those players are when you watch an actual game.

The good thing about the show regarding fans who sour on their teams, is that you can take over running the team and do it like you think it should be done .

The difference between who's good for me out of the bullpen versus who is good irl seems to always get me confused.

I died inside when Junior asked to be traded.



I think Gillick and Pinella could have convinced him to stay. But I also think they thought Alex had more long-term value, so they were content to go along.



The Ms should be eternally greatful Junior didn't break Aarons record.



In an 18 month window, they would have traded arguably the best LHP of all-time, and the HR King. They would be the laughingstock of all sports.

And then let Arod leave and immediately after getting rid of their 3 best players set the record for most wins in a season.

Don't want to be rude guys, but at least we did trade you (The Expos) someone who gave you 11 years for a guy that was here for 4 months and was a total j*rk? ;-)

This beeing said, I fully understand the feelings when superstars are traded or leave, got my fair share of it as an Expos fan!

Their intention was to keep A-Rod

They offered him $20mil per on a short term deal so he could jump back in to free agency again before turning 30. Rodriguez was the posterchild Boras guy. He took the massive payday.

Junior had hte Ms over the barrel when he asked to be traded. As a 10/5 guy, he didn't have to go anywhere he didn't want to go. And he said he would leave in free agency after the season.

Randy had back problems, and the team believed they would persist the rest of his career...

Both of those trades actually turned out okay in terms of return (Freddy Garcia, Mike Cameron, Carlos Guillen..)

I cannot even imagine what they could have gotten for Alex if they had decided to trade him. Mid-20s.. 3 MVP caliber years, 4 Silver Sluggers, a batting title (.358!).. 2x WAR leader..

Figured I would chime in.

I have always been a huge baseball fan, but as my love for the Show has increased, my love of the sport has dispersed further from my love and knowledge of my hometown team, to a love and knowledge of the entire league. I have the MLB app, and while working or doing things at home I'll put any game on.

Also, you know a sports video game is good when 1) you think about your franchise when you're doing other things. And 2) the line between reality MLB and the show MLB becomes cloudy. Jose Ramirez is out for 3 months in my franchise and I actually thought he was hurt in real life the other day. LOL. I'm a dork.

Relate to this so hard. Went from watching Padres games to watching MLB big Inning every night and any morning games I can find over here on the west coast

What might make you more sick is that while they had Junior, Unit and Arod they also had David Ortiz, Jason Varitek and Derek Lowe in their system and all of them were gone by 2001.

I don't know any David Ortiz.. but theres a pretty awesome YouTube vid of David Arias winning a home run derby against Junior and A-Rod
