    Is Power Swing Worthwhile?

Does anyone use a power swing and have any success with it?

I find that whatever timing penalty power swing gives you makes it somewhat not worth it. At least with my skill level.

I find this year contact swing is almost overpowered.

It's a strange thing, at least in my eyes that if I want a double, I have to power swing. Home run? No, just a double or triple.

If you use it in the appropriate counts, then it works well. When the pitcher needs to throw a strike (2-0), sometimes I’ll have it queued up with my big bats in case they throw one over. But outside of that, I don’t use it too often because it should just be for situational spots.

I use it but it has to be used in moderation. Moderation like about as often as I use the bunt swing. I'm swinging normally I'd say 90% of the time, power swing 3%, contact 3% and bunt 3%.

I don’t think I’ve ever used it a single time. That or contact swing. I get a realistic amount of hits and home runs with the regular swing so I always use that.

I use Power only in 3-1 or 2-0 counts. I use Contact in 0-2, 1-2, 2-2 counts. All other counts I use Normal. I have hit some nice bombs with Power when ahead in the count but I've also struck out alot too. I've hit plenty of HRs with Normal and Contact too.

I never use it because I feel the normal swing gives you good results based on player ratings and hitting sliders.

I use it if the person rating is higher then his contact.

Yeah, dawned on me that I’ve never thought of using it either.

100% agree with the comments on using it in the right count, but I'll also not use it if it's not a power hitter in the box.

I agree with it being good on hitter friendly counts. To add to that I try to remember to use power swing when it’s a sack fly situation or when a runner is on 3rd because the power swing can cause chaos even if it’s hit in the infield. The ball can sometimes eat up an infielder if it’s hit really hard.

I only use it on 3-0 and sometimes 3-1 counts. (so very rarely)

For me, the button feels odd to press since I'm so used to the normal swing.

                          Worth the risk? Yes.

If the situation calls for it, there's no reason not to use it.

Shooting from the hip, it feels like a 20% increase in power with a 10% decrease in contact and timing. Would you balance it any differently? It's legit. Especially with power hitters and especially when you don't have much to lose (0-2 count with no one on, or 3-1 count with bases loaded, etc.).

Also worth noting, there's no hard and fast rule for any of this. You could do nothing but power-swing and score 20 runs and you could do nothing but power-swing and score zero runs with 18 Ks. That's baseball. Pick your spots. Yes, use power swing.
                          Just one man’s opinion.
I don’t actually care about any of this.

This. The struggle is absolutely real. God I love this game.

I sat in batting practice for nearly 2 hours and used all the swings.

i couldn't notice a discernible difference between power and normal swing as far as actual power goes unless you go dead red and barrel it up. which even in practice with the ball coming in middle/ low centre was really difficult.

the margin for error is tiny.

contact swing tho. it's a game changer, imo. behind in counts, against good pitchers, just getting bat on ball is difficult. but, contact swing keeps the bat in across the plate longer, and get all these fluky bloops and dinks that find their way onto the grass.

my batting average has gone up a few points just from incorporating contact swing regularly into my at-bats.
