I agree. I went back to memory lane with PS2/XBOX era sports games. Classics like ASB 2005, High Heat 2004 etc.

    Nope.

Now I did have a lot of fun for a few months on MVP 2006 NCAA Baseball. So much fun. But again after a while it kinda faded.

Now on the PS3....there are games that still hold up and I could if I wanted play some franchises on it (NBA2K11, Madden 11, MLB The Show 11 and 12, Fight Night 4 and Champions, College Hoops 2K8) but I wholeheartedly agree...nostalgia and internet hot takes deviate from rational thoughts lol.

I could argue that right now I have never had it better than:

    CFB 25
    MLB 25
    NHL 25
    NBA2K 23/24

I am loving these games. Notice Maden is not in there. It simply fails for me to keep my attention as it always gets patched to death and ruins the OOTB intention. Madden can't seem to figure out what it really wants to be.

Shame....it's a beautiful game but fails to keep me invested.

While this has some attention... Does anyone have any ideas of how to patch the Gamecube or Xbox version to fix this lefty glitch in 04? I was looking into it a few months ago and couldn't come up with any ideas.

        Haha that's really dope.

Yeah I have a bit of a running theory on that, I actually still can go back and play NES-SNES games, and then a healthy amount of PS1 sports games, but I can't do PS2 sports games even though it's unquestionably the best era of sports games looking back. PS2 is that turning point where it's trying to get "realistic" but even if we're not always happy with today's results, by default realism is just gonna get better from HD-era on.

I wish mate. I don't think they ever "officially" patched it on anything but PC, so unless there's some way to get the PC version (post-patch) on to like a cracked GC or Xbox (which I don't think that would be worth it even if it were possible) not sure there's a great option.
I won't ask for Christmas or birthday gifts if you subscribe to the Operation Sports Newsletter (Not Just Another Roster Update). I write it, and it hits your inbox every Friday morning (for freeeeeee). We also have an official OS Discord you can now join.
