    Franchise OCD

Ik I can’t be the only one with this issue. I have a real hard time playing as my favorite team(Mets) I mimic everything that’s happening in real life. It’s annoying because if someone is having a great year for me and they get hurt IRL I manually injure them or send someone down who produces for me but they aren’t IRL. Has anyone had this problem and figured out a way to ignore it or am I better off trying another team.

I'm a Guards fan and the only way I can use them is if I completely tear the team apart and rebuild it, and pretend its a different world than the current one. For me, its hard to follow a team daily and also play as that team without making sure the two worlds don't collide (Seinfeld reference). If I do the mimic real life thing I get bored instantly. It has to feel like my own little world of baseball. So I would suggest picking a different team and pretend you got hired there as GM even though you're a Mets fan. And make that team "your own", since you can't really justify rebuilding a team that is in world series contention.

It has taken some hard work on my part but my days of that kind of OCD are thankfully buried in the past.
I had to bite the bullet and just keep playing with my Mets, despite whatever else is going on IRL MLB.
I admit it wasn't easy, I had to stick with it day in and day out, damn the torpedo full speed ahead.
Its been about ten years now but ever since the 2015 World Series loss to KC, I just roll with NY,
do a little tweaking to the default roster and let the chips fall where they may. And ever since then, I have enjoyed my Show Mets
helluva lot more than IRL Mets (tho I do still enjoy the real world Mets). Heck, if Pete Alonso had re-signed after the Show default roster
had been set in stone, I was seriously considering playing MLBTS 25 without Alonso. I'm extremely thankful that OCD monkey is off my back
and now I have two wonderful Mets teams to root for, the IRL Mets and the Show Mets.
      T-BONE.

      Talking about things nobody cares.

Thanks for the replies. I actually what almost every game and play about 140. I’m leaning toward using the Mets. There a couple of teams that I was thinking could be fun the A’s, KC or Rockies. I’m a big fan of Jacob Wilson an and Nick Kurtz for the A’s. Building around Bobby Witt Jr with the Royals and Rockies just for the challenging rebuild.

I used to have this issue. Honestly, what broke me from it was 2020 when I was playing the game and there was no real baseball being played in real life, so I had nothing to base it on. I had so much fun treating my franchise as it's own thing that I never went back to trying to mimic real life again. It's just getting into a mindset that you aren't going to do it anymore. I promise once you break the habit, you'll have 10 times more fun with it.

My suggestion is to make some sort of minor move to break your universe from reality. That seems to help me.

I always play with the Braves (my favorite team). And I always start with the default roster. This year, I allowed myself to make moves in spring training (adding Kimbrel, Chavez and Jose Suarez) to match reality. But once I started playing games in the regular season, I'm strictly following house rules on trades to keep my universe separate.

The real Braves added Verdugo, but that makes no sense in my universe, so he's still a FA. I haven't added any of the relief pitchers the real Braves have. Kimbrel and Arcia have been decent for me (Arcia still starts) so they're still Braves in my universe.

Even a few small differences can help. And then you can stop trying to replicate everything that happens in reality.

It was easy with the Ms this year. The Robles and Bliss injuries early on crushed my soul. I set pre-existing injuries and rolled with the JWDixons roster.

Might even get more than 1 year in to see how many of the guys on the farm can contribute to the big club (Emerson, Montez, Ford..)

I’m currently in this situation as well. I started a Jays franchise and traded for KeBryan Hayes to play 3rd. Then in the real world the Jays called up Addison Barger and he’s been a fun player to watch. Now I want to call him up and trade away KeBryan.
I have several franchise saves so I jump back and forth between a couple of them.

At this rate I’ll never get through even one season.

Yeah I had the goal of doing my hometown Guards franchise this year but I struggle with watching them daily and also using them in the game, it's just a bit too much Guards. So I jumped around a bit and have settled on a Marlins rebuild. They brought me in to save the franchise 😁

I’ve thought about the Marlins. It’s crazy to me how a team in Miami should have huge support from the Latin American fan base but doesn’t. You would think that ownership would want to build something special there and that the fans would come out to support it.
Good luck in being the GM that builds a winning team there.

Also their throwback uniforms are so nice. I wouldn’t use anything but.

Yep, the items that drew me to Miami was how pathetic attendance is, the fact that the organization is in shambles, the fact that I can't spend much money which makes it more of a challenge, and the great choices of uniforms. I actually like the current ones AND the throwbacks. I'll pretend I'm the "savior" lol.

First time I've played with another team besides my hometown Cardinals (using the Pirates) and I'm really having a blast.
