What roster to use for new franchise?

Simply put. Starting a new franchise but we are 2 months into the season so which roster do I use? The default one? Download an official roster?

depends what you care about. There are better more up to date/accurate rosters in the vault however depending on when they were started you may not have all the updated face scans that were added if they edited them at all. I just finished year 1 in my franchise and may start over but i'll wait for the official update in 2 weeks when Profar is added back.

I'm fine with using default rosters albeit with my own tweaks here and there.
I don't get too hung up on insisting on having updated rosters during the year because,
really, all sports rosters are just a snapshot in time of one specific moment anyway
and are basically out of date only a few days after an update.
So I just say to hell with it and do my own thing with default rosters, in all video games.

Love this mentality. I used to be hung up on the perfect roster with perfect sliders but now I'm at a point where I just enjoy the games for what they are. Definitely brings more enjoyment for me that way

By the way, it's a sadistic decision by SDS to remove Profar.... completely disregarding those who are dedicated to only playing Franchise Mode. Starting a new season now, considering he'll be back in two weeks, is cruel.

It’s not an SDS decision, it’s from MLB. Any suspended players are not allowed to be in the game until their suspension is up. It sucks, but those are the rules SDS is dealing with.

Thankfully MLB is wish-washy and didn't make Sony remove Profar from MLBTS 24. You can still play online with him, and in Diamond Dynasty.

Im using 2025 Franchise Fidelity to Reality Roster. Great roster ... Profar is still on there. I was worried that he was going to be removed but he hasn't so far. Players update when they are , unless it was a created player when this roster was initially released. For example: Tink Hence for the Cardinals has a created face.. he has been updated with a new face scan in the live rosters .. but has not updated on this roster that Im using.

Not sure either but I’d assume they don’t want any bad publicity from it and the suspension of the player includes not having them be part of the team, both in real life and in the video game. Happened to Tatis Jr are few years ago and as soon as his suspension was up, he was put back into the game.

Yes,everyone had to use a created Tatis at the beginning of '23 if you rolled with early season rosters.

I use the default rosters with a few tweaks that I make myself. I like the out of the box player ratings because they tend to get a little extreme in their attribute updates throughout the year. I also find that you end up with log jams at positions in later roster updates because trades happen throughout the year due to injuries, so you have the CPU with guys who should be starting as backups or in a platoon. I think the CPU is too platoon heavy to begin with, and it gets worse with roster updates.

As far as Profar goes, if you use default he's still there.

Set as of Opening Day, they did a great job on team prospects and player potentials.
