Why Do They Not Update Player Potential With Roster Updates

I've noticed something with all the roster updates. Players are getting ratings updates but their potential is never touched. Take today's update for example, Pete Crow Armstrong is now a 98 overall , but his potential is still at 85. Shouldn't his potential be at a 98 now? How will having a rating so much higher than the potential affect the player in franchise and other game situations? Will those players now decrease in rating faster?

Potential does change with roster updates.

Latest roster update has Andre Pallante with a C potential but it was a B when game released.

Not sure why PCA didn’t get a potential change but his potential could change in franchise mode so I wouldn’t be too concerned about it.

    He won’t just automatically decline

I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(

And thankfully they gave us the ability to edit potentials within franchise. I can still remember a time, about a dozen years ago when we could not edit potential at all, not even outside Franchise Mode.
