Show 26. Switch 2
I can’t believe they’re going to make this game with the switch one version and like last year we can just play it on the switch two. Lazy. I used to buy the PS5 version and the switch version, but I won’t be buying it this year. I could just play the same version last year.Tags: None -

Re: Show 26. Switch 2
Yeah, it's a bit of a surprise. I guess I'm hoping that at the very least SDS is able to crank up the settings for graphics and framerate on when the game is played on Switch 2.... but this is definitely disappointing news.I can’t believe they’re going to make this game with the switch one version and like last year we can just play it on the switch two. Re: Show 26. Switch 2
What a bummer. I played 650+ hours of it last year between the Switch and Switch 2 (got it release day). It was a bit nicer and faster on the S2 but I was really looking forward ot a S2 version.Currently playing:
MLB THE SHOW 26
TLOZ: Tears of the Kingdom
Pokemon LeafGreen
Teams:
New York Mets
New York Jets
Philadelphia FlyersComment

Re: Show 26. Switch 2
I guess this also means yet another year of the same PS4 looking graphics on the PS5 version? Many have been saying the reason why MLB The Show on PS5 has not received a "Major" upgrade in graphics is because of having to make it for the Switch 1.
Every year this is such a let down.

Re: Show 26. Switch 2
The player models, player faces, hair models a physics, and some equipment textures and models have all been uodated in the last 2-3 years. Last year the stadium lighting was improved along with the grass textures.
It’s happening in piece meal, but the graphics are noticeably better on the XBSX and PS5Pro than the XBSS and PS5 and exponentially better than anything we had on Gen 8 consoles.
They can still continue to improve them (looking at grass and non-lighting stadium textures), but if you are still seeing PS4 graphics in those other areas, it’s probably your TV. I got a new TV and it’s been a much better experience.Comment

So maybe you are right.

Re: Show 26. Switch 2
You don't need the PS5 Pro to see the enhancements. I have a base PS5 and I think 25 looks a decent bit better than 24. Biggest jump imo since they added PBR materials in 2016. I've been of SDS's biggest critics when it comes to graphics in The Show, and there's still plenty of room for improvement, but I'm willing to give credit where it's due.Last edited by breakfastcat; 01-27-2026, 06:12 PM.👍 1Comment

Re: Show 26. Switch 2
I hope it didn’t sound like a shot at you specifically, because I thought the same thing and only bought a new TV because they had sales early last year. My old TV is 10 years old and I keep it on the spare room. Last year when the game came out I had my XBSX setup on the new TV and an XBSS setup on the old TV. That alone was a huge difference.
So I swapped them and while the XBSS looked good on the new TV, it wasn’t as good as the XBSX but was passable for the better lighting and such. The old TV? The XBSX looked so much more outdated and none of the crisp graphics were showing up, even on 4K UHD (not to mention the lag that even game mode didn’t do much to fix).
So if you can afford it and find some good sales on some new TVs, I’d highly recommend it if you game a bunch, whether it be MLBTS or other games. The tech on the TVs today are made with gaming in mind for the most part and with a good HDMI 2.1 connection, you get much more out of the graphics part of the picture itself, even on the XBSS or regular PS5.
Id also recommend checking online or YouTube for ideal gaming picture settings for your TV. That may help maximize what you can get out of your current TV as much as possible even if it won’t be as good as a new TV.Comment

Re: Show 26. Switch 2
I agree, but a new TV plus the higher model is noticeably different especially if both are in play together. As I said in the above post, I was surprised when I tested it because I didn’t think it would be that much of a difference in picture, but to your point the biggest difference was in the TV. The XBSS was only slightly worse graphically than the XBSX on the new TV, enough to be noticeable though. You don't need the PS5 Pro to see the enhancements. That's fair, I was only commenting on the PS5/PS5 Pro aspect. You definitely don't need the Pro to see the enhancements in 25 over 24

Re: Show 26. Switch 2
This is so disappointing. While I have the original switch and switch lite , I bought the switch 2 with MLB 26 in mind. I enjoy playing The Show on my switch .. I was really hoping for the visual enhancements on the switch 2 with MLB 26 FOR the switch 2.I can’t believe they’re going to make this game with the switch one version and like last year we can just play it on the switch two.
