    HDR problem

Hey Guys, there seems to be an HDR problem. Im playing on the PS5 Pro and the picture is just getting darker in different scenes and brighter again in others.
I really noticed that in this MLB The Show 25 but also other games like College Football 26.

Is there any fix for this? Why is the HDR so dark sometimes? Does anyone else has the same issue?

My first initial guess would be dynamic contrast, make sure this is set to "off"

          Re: HDR problem

Doing a bit of digging here, here's what I found....

If the function that automatically adjusts the video brightness according to the surrounding brightness of the TV is set to On, your screen may automatically become brighter or darker while watching TV. If your TV is flickering or dimming sporadically, you may need to disable some energy efficiency features
The Samsung S95D OLED often changes brightness during games due to aggressive auto-dimming features, such as ABL (Auto Brightness Limiter) or ASBL (Auto Static Brightness Limiter). To fix this, turn off Contrast Enhancer, disable Brightness Optimization in Power and Energy Saving settings, and disable Game Motion Plus
Key Settings to Adjust for Stable Brightness:
          • Disable Contrast Enhancer: Go to Menu > Settings > All Settings > Picture > Expert Settings > Contrast Enhancer and set it to Off.
          • Turn off Brightness Optimization: Navigate to General & Privacy > Power and Energy Saving > Brightness Optimization and disable it.
          • Disable Motion Lighting: In the same Power and Energy Saving menu, ensure "Motion Lighting" is disabled.
          • Check Game Mode Settings: Ensure Game Mode is on, and adjust HDR settings to "Basic" rather than "Advanced" if you experience, for example, too much dimming.
          • Disable Logo Brightness: Under Picture > Panel Care, set "Logo Brightness" to low or off to prevent brightness drops when static UI elements are on screen.
          Hope this helps..

Ok so i tried all this. It fixes the main issue. The only problem now is that the picture is much darker overall. I have TV brightness already at max. Problem is the PS5 has no real brightness slider other than the HDR.

But thank you for the help Kramer. I really appreciate it.

No problem, as far as the picture being darker, a quick search gave me this....

Recommended S95D Picture Settings (Game Mode)
                • Game Mode: On (Auto/Always On)
                • Picture Mode: Game
                • Color Tone: Warm2
                • Brightness/Contrast: 50 (max)
                • Sharpness: 0
                • Color: 25
                • Gamma: 2.2 or BT.1886
                • HDR Tone Mapping: HGIG (recommended) or Static
                • Peak Brightness: High
                • Contrast Enhancer: Off
                • Shadow Detail: 0 (adjust to -3 or -4 if blacks appear washed out by the matte screen)
                • Color Space: Auto or BT2020
                • Motion Xcelerator/Picture Clarity: Off (or custom with Blur Reduction at 10 and Judder Reduction at 3 for 60fps games

                PS5 System Settings
                • Resolution: Automatic
                • VRR: Automatic
                • 120Hz Output: Automatic
                • HDR: On when supported
                • Adjust HDR: Use the HGIG setting (3 clicks up from bottom for each screen) for best results.
                Important Notes
                • Matte Coating & Black Levels: The S95D's matte screen may make blacks look slightly raised in bright rooms; adjusting Shadow Detail to -3 or -4 can help.
                • Connections: Ensure you are using a certified HDMI 2.1 cable plugged into an HDMI 2.1 port (usually port 3 or 4).
                • Firmware: Keep the TV firmware updated to ensure the best performance with gaming features.

                      Re: HDR problem

I had this problem on my old TV, a Toshiba 4K. Both The Show and Madden. It was terrible, and there didn't ever seem to be a solution. Thankfully my Samsung OLED hasn't given me any issues so far, knock on wood.
