    Base stealing

The new pop time has made it easy to steal bases, so I turned the stealing success slider (-2) and I'm finally starting to see at least slow runners thrown out by decent catchers. Before that change, I never saw anyone thrown out.

    Anyone else noticing this issue?

    Re: Base stealing

    Yes.

The animation, even for good, great, elite catchers, is far too slow/clunky in my opinion/experience. I'm going to submit a bug/feedback report to SDS.

I hate messing with sliders, but I may actually follow suit and lower the steal success slider for the time being.
I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

In years past, I have turned runner speed, fielder speed and infield arm strength down 1 notch to 4. I haven't done that with 26 YET, but I may still do so at some point. Have you played the Phillies yet? If so, what did did you think about Realmuto and their backup catcher?
Hitting is not about muscles, it's simple physics.
Calculate velocity (v) in relation to the trajectory (t) in which gravity (g) of course remains a constant.
    It's not complicated.

I've got my IF arm strength at 2. It's much more realistic. Some of these double plays...

        Re: Base stealing

Completely agree on the steal attribute being more impactful for stealing, especially the jump.

What I’ve always wished they would add is a “timing bar” which could be hidden, but it would be the trigger for a great jump vs a terrible jump and how wide of a timeframe you have for that should be 100% tied to the steal attribute. I know it somewhat works like that today but it’s non-existent.

I also think a few more things need to happen:

        1) Steal prompt is simply a button press of LT OR holding LT and releasing at the moment the pitcher steps to the plate. Not an option of both. If it’s holding, there needs to be a way to figure out getting back to the bag vs jumping getting picked off

        2) Pitchers need to hold the ball longer and vary their step to the plate. Again happens a little bit today with runners on but not enough variation so it’s too easy to get a read

        3) Pitchers need to throw over more than once again and have it based on the steal attribute too (bigger leads will guys who steal less don’t get as much as guys with high steal attributes)

        4) Finally pitchers need to stop doing slide steps so much. You rarely see them in real life but they should be saved for certain rare situations for guys with those high steal ratings. I’d even argue it should be a quirk like pickoff artist

I think what Sony needs to do is use another formula and rerate all pop time attributes as well as arm strength for catchers.
Each affects the other, they just need a slight formula tweak.

Jose Ramirez was 30 for 30 in 30 games in stealing bags. He was on pace for 162 lol my team overall was 52 for 54 in attempts in 30 games. I use Armor’s sliders and he has SB ability down to zero.

Ok, something definitely needs fixed on SDS' part. I'm mainly station to station on the basepaths because I have always been atrocious at stealing but once I realized I can steal easily this year, I can't help myself from exploiting the ability. I'm even taking third with ease. If I can just get a walk or single, I can turn it into a triple well over half the time. I'm stealing at almost a 90% success rate. I'm Rickey freakin' Henderson out here.

I even stole 3rd base with Alejandro Kirk !!

It will be fixed i’m sure, but meanwhile I’ve seen some sliders with Steal Ability -2 and some at 0. What you guys are using to mitigate ?

I'm not doing anything. I played a series where I lowered the steal ability slider or whatever and it didn't seem to do anything. So I just moved it back to default and am just playing. If they adjust it great, if not then we'll be setting new stolen base records in major league baseball.

GI thought this day would come when MLB introduced the pitch clock. It looks like maybe The Show is just ahead of the time coming when runners get more used to being on base knowing a pitcher can't hold the ball forever. I would love to turn on the pitch clock myself but it's like balks, I don't really want too since the CPU isn't hooked up to the same standard.

They need to return to last year's stolen base dynamic with an option to turn off pop time. My concern is they will over correct and make it impossible for good base stealers to steal.

That's a possibility but then they could dial it right in the middle of the two settings.

After many more games, I'm finding the stealing success slider not really doing much. I've seen only 1 player thrown out since that post and many stolen bases, even stealing 3rd seems automatic now.

I doubt they will scrap pop time, but I hope they find a way to correct the animation or whatever the issue is.

Pop time is a rating now. Cannot be scrapped

                    Re: Base stealing

I dont think pop time is the actual issue. It’s the animations taking longer than they should. It’s the same with runners leaving the box. Some of the post hit batter animations are like they are running in quicksand and the catcher animations seem to be in the same boat. Although at higher difficulty levels, I’ve noticed it is definitely better (could still be improved).

The animation is being driven by the Pop time ratings.

I am testing a scale right now like this in combination with my steal sliders:

                      Pop Time 90-99 (Elite)
                      1.85-1.90 sec

                      Pop Time 80-89 (Very Good)
                      1.90-1.95 sec

Pop Time 70-79 (Avg - Good)
                      1.95-2.05

                      Pop Time 60-69 (Below Average)
                      2.05-2.15 sec

                      Pop Time <60 (Poor)
                      2.15+

It will take a little time.....but I want to see if there is a correlation and what slider adjustment can work in this correlation.

It could be the animation is simply not good period....but I don't believe that's the case universally. The pop time is the driver.....so we may need to make some universal pop time ratings adjustments to calm it down based on my findings with elite and very good pop times va average base stealers vs elite, vs very good....etc etc etc. There are a lot of variables taking place...including counts, pitch, location...etc etc.

                      Stay tuned.

I love NBA2k l's Global slider. It would be great if you could just bump every catchers pop time in one fell swoop by 5 or 10 or 15 points, see how much that helps
