You may be right but im hoping it is a lot more. IIRC, i remember reading somewhere that developers were working on games for the PS4 way before we even knew anything about the PS4. Also, given the fact that the show is developed by SCEA, i have a feeling it will be great and packed to the brim with awesomeness. I feel that the launch titles for the PS4 will be better than the launch titles from when the PS3 came out.

Re: PS4 Discussion (MLB The Show 14)
There would be no excuse for them to not come out the gates flying with real significant changes and improvements far ahead of the PS3 in my opinion because the era now is far more advanced than the era of PS2-PS3. Plus we've seen evidence of some games that provide much more of a new experience than before seen, for example a game like Watch Dogs appears highly different than anything we have ever played.I don't think we're going to see many changes in MLB 14 because the console is still going to be brand new. It's gonna be the same transition we've seen between PS2-PS3 and have the game released on both consoles. So we're gonna see some huge graphic updates but otherwise it'll mostly be the same thing.
2015 is going to be the big year for games as we'll be officially shifted towards the new gen of consoles. We just need to grind it out a little longer boys.
Granted it can and will get stronger and much stronger throughout the future, but 2014 especially for a game produced by the console maker should show-off a new world of gaming advancements immediately. It''s the only expectation to have for the PS4.Red LegendComment

Re: PS4 Discussion (MLB The Show 14)
What I'd really like to see is more of the little things. Players having personalities, better batted ball calculation (Less GB hits, more LD and FB hits, and WAY less pop-ups).
The biggest thing I would want a massive overhaul of the injury system.
Nagging injuries that bother players thought the season like sore shoulders and bad backs, and could indicate a bigger problem on the horizon and make a choice system when you'd shut a player down and dive into the root of the issue or choose to let them play.
Age being the major factor in injuries. The durability stat could just be removed as most players really only take rare days off unless they're hurt.
Injuries being the primary source of decline in relatively young players. You often have players who are like 29-31 and fall off a cliff. Players who stay healthy are often productive until their mid-30s at least.PSN: KMRBlue1027

Re: PS4 Discussion (MLB The Show 14)
Perhaps inconsistent or rough would be a better way. Whatever you call it or don't call it, what I'm trying to get at is that I believe that there should be a strategic element to franchise mode. Realistically player personalities are a huge factor in how teams build their teams. Personalities alone can boost or detract from how a team performs onfield. Guys like Carlos Zambrano don't have too many suitors for very obvious reasons. Varying the way players act on field would add a huge sense of realism and variety to the game
I know Mariano isn't in the game next year. You don't have to tell me, I follow baseball like a religion. What I mean by this is that seeing serious players acting silly and fist pumping is always weird and kills the realism of a game.Comment

Re: PS4 Discussion (MLB The Show 14)
I like this idea. At the very least, and I have posted this in other threads, make the cut scene match the injury! I am so tired of seeing guys get hurt in the game and they say its a hammy, only to get out of the game and he has a fractured foot.Figured I'd post this now as its fresh in my memory. I had an injury today with Bradley Jr., he injured his hand on a stolen base. However, after the game, no notification came up saying he was hurt and how long he'd be out.
I was thinking maybe we could get something in the game, like a pop up notification or an "in-game report" of what the injury was, instead of playing through the rest of the game. It's not a big deal, its just I hate having to play through the game just to see what the injury was and how long he's going to be out for.
Even if that is true, which Im not totally sure it is, it makes no sense why that would even be an issue with anyone, they need to get it closer to what the real life contracts are.Comment

Re: PS4 Discussion (MLB The Show 14)
also, from an editing stand point there needs to be more equipment. there have been zero new fielding gloves added since at least 09, that's beyond ridiculous. I think the debate on licensed gear has been exhausted here as well. all that needs to be said is the time has come for it to be in, so get it taken care of. a nike logo on an undershirt barely scratches the surface of what yall need to add into this game. The money is there, and now the hardware capability is there.Comment

Re: PS4 Discussion (MLB The Show 14)
Not sure what you mean by the money is there now. I don't think licensed gear is all of a sudden going to just show up (though that'd be great), but I think a more realistic expectation and hope is to see more generic equipment options with the gloves and equipment, etc. There's a lot of options currently, but I agree it'd be nice to be able to choose from different styles with the gloves.also, from an editing stand point there needs to be more equipment. there have been zero new fielding gloves added since at least 09, that's beyond ridiculous. I mean that sony, a multi million dollar company, can afford to pay for some licensed gear. Not sure what you mean by the money is there now. Re: PS4 Discussion (MLB The Show 14)
I don't know... I hear a lot of people say its true, including devs, but I dont really get it either, since contract values for ALL players are readily available all over the place, including ESPN. If they are worried about privacy they kinda missed the bus.I like this idea. At the very least, and I have posted this in other threads, make the cut scene match the injury! Re: PS4 Discussion (MLB The Show 14)
While this is true, it's really not that cut and dried. Every project (game) has a budget, and can't simply dip into daddy's pocket (SCE) when it's spent.
Also, it's not as simple as say, the NFL where the league as a whole has a deal with Nike.
Nike is the official undershirt of MLB though, so we were able to get that... at a cost to Sony SD Studios and their budget (even tho they are already recognized by MLB) - also, the official jersey makers (Majestic) and hats (New Era) are in the game, it just happens they only make those pieces of gears.
Agreements with MLB has always been funny... just try to find an official MLB video on any site other than mlb.com. They lock all that type of stuff down too. Anyway, I'm rambling lol

Re: PS4 Discussion (MLB The Show 14)
It's surely weird if that is true, but the only possible reason I can think of is they don't want real life contracts potentially affected by some toying around with a video game, that would so accurately show a market. Maybe they fear an agent or gm out there who would simulate and toy with contract negotiations just for fun at least. That sounds reallly stupid altogetherI like this idea. but so does not having more realistic contracts signed in franchise mode. They don't let us currently go all the way to the levels of $$ contracts in real life are signed for. I'd love to release Robinson Cano for asking 10 years/$305 million dollars
If improvements are not made in 14' it can't be attributed to PS3 hardware, it will become obvious they are instructed to keep that out of the game. Hopefully we can look forward to seeing it finally.

Re: PS4 Discussion (MLB The Show 14)
You are correct, the NFL does have a deal with nike, yet EA has no issue getting reebok, under armor and adidas cleats in their game (still not sure why they haven't added the nike gloves, probably a next gen addition). It just needs to be done, whatever they have to do.While this is true, it's really not that cut and dried. Re: PS4 Discussion (MLB The Show 14)
Perhaps if they would just come out and tell us this people wouldn't get so annoyed with it. Saying "hey guys we tried to get nike brand cleats in this year, but nike wanted way too much money, or the mlb told us we cant use licensed gear (which obviously isn't the case cause we got the undershirt, they aren't gonna say ok you can have a shirt, but no cleats gloves etc. they most likely don't have a say in anything outside of uniforms anyways). then people might understand. but a lot of times its like talking to an angry woman:
Guy: whats wrong?
Girl: cant tell you
Guy: why?
Girl: just cant (walks off)
When you're getting no answers to questions that have a very much clear cut answer it becomes frustrating and its been going on for I believe 5 years now.Comment

With some things (like the bolded) are out of SCEA hands. MLB and MLBPA have alot of say of what can and can't be in the game. It's surely weird if that is true, but the only possible reason I can think of is they don't want real life contracts potentially affected by some toying around with a video game, that would so accurately show a market. Because something seems like it makes sense to us(like already knowing the contract values) can be an issue with one of the 2 affiliations for whatever reason.Comment
