Re: PS4 stadiums built from scratch!!! speculations and hopes

I know I am jumping in here late and I do love the thread with all the wants us the Indians fans, but I have to weigh in on stadium wall color. It may affect other stadiums as well, but Jacobs Field (Progressive Field) has never had walls that lean towards being "teal" colored like I see in the Show. For years they have not gotten it right. To be fair, the other baseball game that just went away, didn't seem to be able to get this correct either. However, I played that game on the PC and with a little editing I could completely correct the wall colors and get a realistic looking field of play.

I am certain there are other stadiums that suffer from this issue. Hopefully this get's addressed but the screenshots of Fenway Park look wrong too. Hopefully they were just showcasing the beard complexity and the stadium was just a filler.

A long while back I did stadium color correction for different fields. Many of these were addressed in MLB '12, I believe. Some still need to be worked on. It wasn't just wall color, but also grass and dirt color, among other things.

My edits were in fact based on calibrated cameras and untouched photos, so I'd like to say the colors got pretty accurate at that point.

Part of the problem is the "material" that is used in some situations, though. One of the CD members talked about how Chase Field has different parts used for the walls, so when the lighting hits these different surfaces that is what causes the difference; otherwise, they are based on the same hex code. So some of it I understand might be tough to work with.

Does anybody have some type of example of that. I'm trying to picture that unless its just talking about fighter jets through the air like during the end of the national anthem.

Also I would like them to make Bernie better at Miller Park when the Crew hit homeruns. To me he has always look half-assed but that might just be me.

Photoshop is one hell of a dr... program.

The point is that SCEA's games have had strange color schemes since the PS2 days, and sometimes I think that it's just the overall "cool" tone of the games in general. Maybe it ties more to the lighting than anything else, and their hex codes match exactly what it's really supposed to be. Either way, it has looked better year after year since MLB '12 (which means the last two years and these new screens).

I think someday we'll get exactly what we're looking for.

Your Target Field coloring looks so much more like the real thing. I hope they get to tweak this a little before release but it has been getting better year on year for sure. With a couple more months left I am sure they can squeeze in a few things like this that we have been asking for.

Absolutely 100% agree. It's the only thing that bugged me to no end in this game. The wall, grass, and dirt colors just seemed so bland and almost washed out. The "cool tone" description you used fits very well. It did get better as time went on but not enough IMO. A great example of the dullness of the colors is to play a game at US Cellular. To me that stadium was a bore to play in because none of the colors and lighting popped out.

The Fenway Park screen shot is such a huge relief for me because it now seems we will have more true looking wall and field colors. I know some people say the Fenway wall is off but honestly it's a ton better than what the PS3 has now. IMO though it looks pretty spot on. If the colors are fixed for PS4, I think this problem could just be that the lighting and color scheme on PS4 is just that much better. I don't know anything about technicalities of game development but I would think the developers would have had better resembling colors on the ps3 version if they could. They wouldn't just all of a sudden decide to fix or change it.

To bad there was nothing on the facts sheet about closed roof stadiums(PS4). You gotta think it would have been mentioned on that if it was in the game. Maybe next year right?

It's not in this year. It's on the list for next year, but that doesn't mean it's a given it will be in next year. Just have to wait and see.

Mr. Russell confirmed closed roofs won't be making it into the game this year.

But I believe that PSNation did mention that when he asked the devs...they did say for '15.

I hope so......not that I even care that much about open/closed roofs...but I REALLY hope so.

Ramone went in the thread and said it was on the list for next year, but didn't guarantee it would be in.

I'm guessing they want to add rain delays/rain outs with the open/closed stadiums?
