    Re: Weather

I want weather effects like loss of stamina, ground effects, or pitch control due to extreme conditions. Wind effects and graphical effects as well.

I don't want rainouts at all that occur after I start a game. A postponement prior to a game forcing a double header at some point in the season would be awesome and would be a realistic feature in the game. I would love to play double headers in the game. Shouldn't happen that ofter though. No more than 5 times a season for a team I would think.

Also, during a game it would be cool to have an on-screen display of an umpire informing the managers that a shortened game could happen if the bad weather continues. That would add some fun managerial strategies if you are worried about a shortened game. These would have to be very rare and not be enforced even though you get the umpire warning. I have no idea how many shortened games there are throughout the league every year, I would guess less that 10, so I really don't even think it is worth the effort.

        Why not?

I think it would be cool for it to get called especially if it benefited my outcome.

You think it would be cool to invest a precious 90 minutes into playing a game, only for the CPU to go "LOL you just wasted all that time because rainout" and then you have to play that game all over again?

          No thanks. Absolutely not.

I think he means for a game to be called after 5+ innings due to rain. That I'd be fine with as it actually would add some strategy to games. If you notice the rain is picking up in the bottom of the 5th in a tie game you might bunt with your #5 hitter to pick up one run.

But this would require either, a pop-up notification that heavy rain is expected soon, the announcers giving some indication of rain, or dynamic graphical rain that picks up as the game goes on.

Would be cool, but seems like a lot of work for a sort of minor event during the season.

Oh yeah sure... I'd be cool with that. Technically I think those aren't called "rainouts" though. Not sure. But yeah I thought he meant the "cancellation" kind.

I actually know a lot of people who use rainouts for any game that ends before regulation. And say cancelled if the game is rained out. Maybe its a regional thing.

I wouldn't assume he really meant rainouts as it literally means, that would be pretty crazy as like you said it would mean the game decided to waste your time. I guess it could be an option, but it would need to be off by default.

They are not...so it isn't just you.

Rain shortened games are a different animal.

Maybe my terminology was off but rain shortened games was what I was referring to. Maybe the original poster meant something else now that I have read it again.

I would like rainouts as well ...but only before the game.
Game being called after 5?....I'll take those as well.

How about a compromise and just have rain delays that only add a cutscene. But also an option to have simulation style rain delays where the camera pans around the ballpark for 2 hours with the tarp on the field, unskippable of course.

Rain delays would be another cool thing. I imagine your starting pitcher having a much lower stamina bar when you resume pitching, and stuff like that. I think it would add a whole new dimension to gameplay, especially in franchise mode.

That'd be interesting. A cut scene showing the umps calling the game and the grounds crew putting the tarp on, then fade out and back in, and the crew taking the tarp off and you resume play.

Never thought about that! That'd be awesome to show the grounds crew putting the tarp on and off. Then again, I'm a bit partial to grounds crew. I was on the Rays' grounds crew from '06-'11. Of course we never had to pull the tarp in Tropicana Field but did many times during spring training at Al Lang Field.
