    Digital Early Release?

Pre-loading function would be very welcome!

Does this mean MLB 14 The Show would be ready to play at 12AM May 6th without having to start the download at that time? I guess if you have a game pre ordered on the PSN it would download automatically perhaps earlier in the week and it would just be locked until the game is officially released?
Does the 12am time mean EST? Living in Arizona I wonder if that means I can start playing at 9pm?

I think the network knows when it is in certain places, and doesn't let things go out until the proper time. Could be wrong though

Digital releases typically go on sale at the same time for everyone in the region.

But I think PSN uses PST, so 12am PST, 3AM EST.

Well doesn't that just suck. Maybe someone here who's DL'ed the game digitally on release b4 can enlighten us?

MLB 13 digital download was available at midnight eastern time. Well it was a few mins late, around 12:10. I remember because there was a thread where people went nuts because it was a little bit late.

Started the download at 12, and woke up and it was finished.

Downloads do not really take that long anyway.
I downloaded Infamous last night at 4 AM est from the Playstation App on my phone.

When I woke up at 6 AM and powered the PS4, the game had already been downloaded, installed, extra content downloaded installed, an update installed.

Definitely better than waiting until 9-10 AM for store to open, or standing outside at midnight.
Digital is the way to go for the most part.

Yeah, but how big was the file size? Bc we know TS's gonna be around a good 40 at least. Soooooo
Edit: Just checked the PS store, it says I:SS is only 20 GB, so I'm thinking that's only half if not less than half of the Show.

Agreed, The Show will probably be bigger, but for someone like me at least, who cannot wait around late at night for something to download....kicking off the download at 12-1 AM and going to sleep, will guarantee it will be ready by the morning.

I also, agree with the comments above, sports games have ZERO resell value, and I usually play MLB until the next version of it comes out, which by then GameStop is probably giving you like $3-5.

Not having to leave my house is worth the $5.

Anywhoot....the game will not be released early to answer the OP question finally..lol

If only! Not to spoil the market here but I would gladly pay up to 200 to get this baby early! 200 and I would make everyone at SCEA a Mojito!

That certainly is an interesting proposal.

I'm not sure I love it, as someone that prefers to still buy physical media, but it could be huge for the companies to push consumers toward the digital model and make extra revenue on top of it.

And really, they wouldn't even have to increase the price to increase revenue.
They could since they can spin it as paying to get it early, but they wouldn't have to.
They are already making revenue off of selling it digitally and foregoing the traditional retail model (where the retail store is making their cut) as well as saving money on not having to produce and ship a tangible product.

It would be a cunning move to push people, such as myself, toward purchasing digitally.
