The screenshots for the PS4 definitely look better than anything they have done before on the older console. You have to be fair to Sony. This is the first year on the new console. It will most definitely get better as time goes along but if you are expecting the world the first time out you will be disappointed.

Re: New PS4 Gameplay Screenshot!!
some visuals!
Using the assumption that they may be the same skeleton used in the PS4 version, I wanted to show some of what I THINK stands out to people still.
Though most of the proportions seem correct when I measure, there is a general feel of the players legs seeming short (especially from the knee down)..you can see this in the Verlander image) and large heads (you can see this in the Freeman model and players like Kershaw and others). There is also something in the hips, and the combination makes the models seem "boyish", more like cartoon versions of themselves. It's subtle, but it does show...again using the Freeman image as an example.
In the Freeman image I copied the player model in the third shot and made very minor adjustments....reduced the head size, gave him broader shoulders and reduced the "flare" of the sleeves, and slightly increased the overall length of the hips/legs. Its going to be a preference I understand, though to me the adjusted image looks more like a man, and more representative of Freeman.
In general there does not seem to be a range of "figures" or body compositions which allow easier identification of who is who. Looking at the Rollins comparison, he looks pretty buff, and glanced quickly even resembles more of a Ryan Howard model. Part of this is the shoulders, partly since there is no "clothing hang" the pants and jerseys seem more that the player fills them out fully...making them bulkier than they really are.
It's one of the things I am amazed with in NBA 2k14, that even from a distance you can recognize players just by their player model...different levels of bulk and tone, fat, muscle, skinny etc., and then of course the fact that their clothing hangs off of that model, allows for even more realism.
Dont know if this answers the question from the developer, or hopefully shows visually what sometimes stands out. I have the flu...I have way too much time on my hands right now.Comment

Re: New PS4 Gameplay Screenshot!!
People can complain about player models, but of the same company is designing a game why would they change the models they've used? Madden didn't change their models. 2K didn't change fee theirs, and doesn't look like fifa changed theirs.
Did they do things to enhance it? Sure, but the model itself doesn't seem changed.
I mean the shot of the Orioles player (name escapes me atm) shows the massive difference between PS3 tech and PS4 tech.
Then again I haven't played The Show since TS10 and have dissected every piece of a few stills.

I really think SCEA should look at what 2K did and try to replicate it. People may give their dismissive answers now, but they would love the improvement the instant they see it in the future.Comment

Not sure why some always seem to want to downplay PS4, maybe cannot afford one?Comment

Re: New PS4 Gameplay Screenshot!!
Did you mean to say that it is "not" the skeleton for you? I only ask because the two things you mentioned:
1) Cloth physics
2) Body type (heavy, muscular, thin, etc.)
do not really have anything to do with animation skeleton.
I may have missed something, but it seems that the issue with the player models on the PS4 is that they should look "new" (which, from what I gather, means different) because it is a new console. And even if they are different in the increased amount of detail and resolution, that is not significant enough.
Am I correct? Finally Roster share in NHL 22 ! Dreams do come true ! To Garryowen and Glory boys !Comment

Re: New PS4 Gameplay Screenshot!!
No one will be disappointed.....It is a big leap from ps3 to ps4 and in motion it will be a very big difference. Playing infamous right now and the visuals are amazing, a major leap from anything i've seen on ps3.

This is a great post.
The jokesters who are saying stuff like "maybe they should add horses or a zombie mode hehehehehe" C'mon now. Everybody in this thread who has been critiquing the player models has been very respectful to the developers and complimentary towards The Show in general. We all love The Show. If people are making well-intentioned and respectful criticisms then I believe that should be respected.
If you want an example of how NOT to make a criticism of The Show, please see all the posts made by nuke_21 (now banned) in this thread: http://www.operationsports.com/forum...russell-3.html
None of the "player models need work" guys in this thread or the large PS4 screenshot thread (which seems to have carried over into here) has been behaving like that, so why are they being treated like trolls just for trying to point out a place that has room for improvement? I don't recall anybody saying they won't be buying the game because the player models aren't perfect.Comment

But we're still in the first year of the new console so I have confidence in the dev team to deliver better in the future iterations. Just look at the difference between MLB 07 PS3 models and MLB 13's.Comment
