VR and The Show

Anyone else intrigued about Project Morpheus and the potential to bring something really interesting to The Show?

Seems like if there was ever a game suited for using the Sony Move (as a bat to swing obviously) in a VR setting, it would be baseball. Of course trying to hit a baseball in real life is incredibly challenging, and it would be really hard for the devs to balance that in the VR world, but I think the sense of actually feeling as if you are standing at the plate would be fantastic.

As a 40 yr. old with disposable income, I would be eager to be an early adopter if they get the goggles right, and the devs are able to make it work. 2015-2016 can't get here fast enough...bring on VR.

It was brought up in the latest OS podcast....and I think it's an intriguing area to explore.

I currently play using an HD projector on a 133" screen and I set the batting cam to wide, but if I could get 100 degrees of view from goggles, the sense of scale and immersion must be beyond anything I've experienced in video gaming. Go and watch a bunch of youtube vids of people using Oculus for the first time and its nothing but wonder and amazement.

It doesn't require move controls.

The real issue is that The Show just doesn't seem like it would work at all in a VR form. It would be incredibly awkward and would require a first person mode as most VR games are played from that perspective. You could do it third person, but that seems to defeat the purpose of VR wth head tracking. Maybe some gimmicky home run derby mode.

Every article I've seen mentions it works with both the dualshock 4 and move controllers.

Hitting a baseball is hard. So it would be very hard to make it realistic. If it were...it would NOT be fun.


Also...I bought the move for The Show. It was cool...but was novelty at best. It didn't feel right for a bunch of reasons.


With all that said...I appreciated the effort of the move and it might be a cool thing VR and baseball. Would definitely add something to RTTS. So why not...to make something great you have to take a risk. I might throw some money at it.

I think HR Derby would be a good way to introduce it into the series and then if it works/people are interested in it... they could add a first person mode..

For some reason though, I feel like this is still a few years down the road... like 2020
