It is indeed based on the actual market of the teams, I believe. If we turn the budgets off, people will have no problem shelling out 800 million dollar contracts so we actually have to keep budgets on.

If budgets off were to indeed set a budget that's the same for every single team, I would def consider that as well based on the reaction from the members, but I don't believe that's how budgets work in the game.

So during a draft would a team that has a 70 mil budget not be able to draft some players because of that? I've never done a league draft with budgets so I have no idea how it goes. I'd like to joing a league with a draft, I'm already in another one, but picking which team to take might be harder if the budgets are rigid going into the draft.

Or does it scale the player salaries to fit within that team's budget? Again I've never done a league draft so this aspect of it seems confusing to me.

Player's salaries do not fit within that team's budget. So if you were the Rays and you had a team with a bunch of paid dudes, their salaries wouldn't decrease neither would your budget increase.

What would happen though is you would be WAYYY over the cap, that's my guess.

So you're the Rays and you payroll is 200 million, but your budget for your roster is only 100 million. That means until you get under the salary you can't sign anybody or take on money in a trade.

So during the draft each team has a different budget and has to draft according to that? That seems harsh for an online draft. I'm interested in joining your league, but would have to think about what team to take.

Great! Let me know which team you'd like.

I'd love to have every team's budget the same amount, but we can't have that unfortunately.

The only type of commitment that I ask from members is to stay active in the league. That doesn't mean I expect you to think about potential trades, free agent signings, games, etc 24/7.

I do however ask that you play your scheduled game on a consistent basis and preferably that you aren't in another league so you won't be distracted or confused.

Okay, thank you for the response. I will think about, like I said I've never done an online before and I don't want to screw up. But if your webpage is public I'd check that even if I don't join. I might want to see how it works before I commit. Thanks again..

But the smaller market gives you a much smaller cap space to work with.

                    Okay sure no problem.

If you have any other questions about how it works, let me know. It will mostly be the same thing as an offline franchise...just with people controlling other teams.

not set in stone, will most likely cast a vote once the league is ready to go.
