    Balks

Even with balks on, you can balk every play. It has never made sense.

    Balks

Yeah my experience is you only balk when you pitch extremely fast after you've selected your pitch. Even with a small pause before the pitcher comes to a halt it doesn't register as a balk while it actually is.

There will only be a balk if you tend to try quick pitch your opponent.

If you turn balks on, yes you can balk every play. lol

Do you mean with balks off? If so, that would be interesting.

He means you can get away with balks. Take Henry Rodriguez, he takes a good five seconds to come set, but you can pitch at the two to three second mark, two full seconds before he comes set, and the game will not register a balk.

It only balks if you double tap the pitch button. As long as you don't double tap, the game won't balk.

I understand. I use analog so you really have to be quick for the umpires to call a balk. It should call it the "Quick Pitch" setting instead of "Balks". Reason being, one day they might have a game that actually calls a balk if you're not completely set, and that would be awesome.

oh okay. I get what you mean now!

I noticed that in '13. Its like it doesnt care about all the extra body movement as long as their left foot is on the ground already lol

Yeah..not sure why balk is not implemented this way especially since there is option to turn off balk.

I'm curious if the CPU pitchers balk? I've never seen that before..it would be nice if that would be realistic and balk now and again..

They don't. The feature only exists (for now) as a countermeasure to online quick-pitching. You CAN turn it on for vs CPU games, but it's kind of pointless to do so IMO when you know the CPU can't do it.

And this is probably another one of those things that if SCEA was going to put it in the game, they'd want to do it right. They would have to be triggered based on some kind of rating. They wouldn't just throw them in there if they could only make it a completely random chance for every pitcher.

Is there ever a Balk called? Ive play i dont even know how many games and have never had a balk call. I know they dont happen regularly but it would be nice to see at least a couple a season.

I balked a lot when I first turned it on (I didn't know it was an option until recently. I have learned to control it but I still do it every now and then.

Now I play really slow so to say. I let the pitcherr get all set before I pick a pitch, wait about a second and move the location, and then hit the button to pitch another second after that. Is that why I see no balks? Its great dont get me wrong lol, but was really starting to wonder (like ejections) if its really in the game.
