Why do people think canceling a digital version and going to a store is quicker? You still have to install it I've never had to wait more then an hour on any game download

DL Speeds

1Mbps = 101 Hours

2Mbps = 51 Hours

5Mbps = 20 Hours

25Mbps = 4 Hours

And it will probably be slower than those since everyone will be downloading at the same time.

I've 54 Mbps at least, just for having a comcast infinity connection. If Play As You Download is a real feature, I should begin playing within 30 minutes of midnight.

That is exactly what I was thinking. When Second Son came out at 12east 9pm pst I still ended up playing around midnight pst time.

I've 54 Mbps at least, just for having a comcast infinity connection. If Play As You Download is a real feature, I should begin playing within 30 minutes of midnight.

Same here but there server that is hosting it can slow down. Again using Second Son as reference,It went really slow, then I got about half the game at expected speeds... then the wall. No matter what I did, it had to just sort itself out. Took 2 and a half hours or so.

I call bull****. For 47 GB you need 100Mbps down to be done in an hour
(and thats if the servers even let you get that much when everyone is downloading) . Now you may have that. But not everyone does. AVG DL speed in the US is 25. Thats a 4 hour wait. Go buy from the store you only have to wait an hour to install. And plenty of people have less than 5 down. I doubt they want to wait 20 hours.

I have two games, similar size. One disc, one digital. Both were downloaded/installed in near the same time. I don't have huge internet speed I don't know where you get 20 hours.

If your download speed is 5 Mbps then it will take 20 hours. Thats fact nothing changes that. Im not saying everyone has those speeds or that its gonna take that long for everyone. I was saying for people with that slow of speed its better to get the disk version since we cant preload.

Like i said before the avg internet speed in the US is about 25Mbps. Thats still gonna take 4 hours to DL. Theres no way a game is taking longer than that to install.

It doesn't matter, in even the best case scenarios (i.e. amazin internet speeds) installing the game will be faster than downloading. That's basically all he was saying.

People need to decide what the best option for them is, there is no one answer. If you have a fast fiber connection, go ahead an download, but don't act as if your situation represents everyone's. Same goes for if you have a slow connection. Each distribution method has its own advantages.

Run a speed test on your connection and the math should tell you the rest. Really isn't that complicated.

This is a question for those who have preordered a digital game on PSN before for the PS4. Did you guys have to manually kick off the download, or did your ps4 start to download the game automatically? I always keep my PS4 on standby and have automatic downloads enabled. My hope is is that it does and come Tuesday morning, I can just turn on my PS4 and start playing the show.
