Re: MLB 14 The Show Video - Baseball Is Better on PS4
My small amount of whining/criticism PALES in comparison to the threads that will erupt if this game is even slightly buggy for a month or two. So you have that to look forward to I guess.
Just my side of the story anyway. I do credit their lighting and overall uppage of detail for sure and have said so. As well the fans are my most favorite improvement this year and it's clear going forward that they are making a solid foundation on PS4. Short of licking the game and cooing in its ear I really don't have anything more positive or negative to say atm.
But you aren't going to find me on one of these bandwagons. I play most of my PC games with a Sony controller so.... it isn't like I just left consoles behind. I enjoy my consoles. But let's be honest, I am hardcore techologist when it comes to gaming. These things will be pointed out because they are right there in front of my face. When anisotropic shading seems absent it looks pretty bad on the field. I mean, I can't even tell the difference with ground textures in some of these shots and I have a trained eye.
Same way I would point out the little oddities and inconsistencies in one of my favorite games like Infamous. In fact all the suggestions AKA whining just got us a patch today that removes HUD, let's us select time of day, and introduces a photomode among other things. Yes indeed, this criticism SOME guys here like to call not acceptable is actually what makes other games better.Last edited by ZealousMonkey; 04-17-2014, 11:38 AM.Comment

Re: MLB 14 The Show Video - Baseball Is Better on PS4
Now that is a trailer, my OS comrades! Great build-up music. Even more epic to watch and listen to when hooked up to the home theater!
Interesting that they don't open up that tarp section in night games at Fenway Park, though.
PNC Park is the only stadium they have shown which has that lush of a green grass. Look at the others and tell me that they are the same. I don't believe that I have made that comment yet that in all of these trailers, I have noticed for some reason that PNC Park is significantly more "right" in the grass department than other stadiums.Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60Comment

Re: MLB 14 The Show Video - Baseball Is Better on PS4
To be honest it gets old seeing console gamers freak out over stuff that was quite honestly introduced about 7 years ago as a regularity in gaming. No offense but I don't care to read all that jazz and am more interested in what people actually think of the state of the game compared to the rest of the hierarchy. I don't really want to hear all the praise mixed with zero criticism. For all we know this could be the buggiest game in years. It has happened before with a couple installments.

Re: MLB 14 The Show Video: Baseball Is Better on PS4
I do like how they have blended scoreboards. You can easily tell they have gotten better in this regard. The new 3D elements and lack of terrible signs or colors have drastically improved year by year.
I'm pretty reasonable when it comes to console graphics. For instance, Killzone and Infamous, though definitely not 60FPS, are pretty damn great looking for launch games. The Show looks good to me not great yet. They have a while before any sirens are going off though. 15 should give them a decent amount of time to fix things I just truly hope some of those things are actually going to be fixed.Last edited by ZealousMonkey; 04-17-2014, 11:45 AM.Comment

Re: MLB 14 The Show Video: Baseball Is Better on PS4
The PC is not a target platform for MLB The Show, so I don't understand how it's relevant to this discussion.
Please move the discussion away from generalized console-to-PC comparisons. Only warning. Thanks.Comment

Re: MLB 14 The Show Video and Screenshot Captures - Baseball Is Better on PS4
Okay the drive-by posts need to stop. If you can't read a friggin' post then don't respond and certainly don't quote a wall of text further demanding my attention to post. If you want to let something go you don't quote that wall of text 50 times. It's called common decency. I'm RIGHT HERE DUDE. I'm well aware of what I just typed.
And furthermore notice how I say that Infamous, as in a console game on PS3 and PS4, is one of my favorite games. Same with Killzone and Flower. So.... I think I'm good here just try not to quote that whole bugger again k? I'm really not sure how many times I have to say, because obviously no one heard?, how much I appreciate the fan modeling and the 3D grass of all things. I also think the players got a good boost. Those are the things I really liked this year.... as well the stadium advertisements are finally up to par and not distracting which is very good. All in all a solid foundation but like some other launch games I'm a little iffy about paying 60.
Obviously the lighting is gorgeous but it's only going to get a whole lot better in years to come. For 14 The Show has mostly hit my expectations. Exceeded them with fans and signage slightly underwhelmed with the grass and ground stuff.Last edited by ZealousMonkey; 04-17-2014, 12:06 PM.Comment

Am I the only one who noticed ZealousMonkey post about his Twins. Saying that if they are doing terrible he won't have time for baseball this season. Fairweather fan. Shame you can only care about your team when they are winning.Comment
