Postgame or Weekly Wrap up Show in MLB 14?

Hi Everyone,

I am brand new to MLB the Show and really looking forward to Tuesday! With that said, I am a franchise mode player only and am curious if MLB The Show has any kind of weekly wrap up show or something to immerse you in the experience?

Do they have any kind of game break cut ins to show you highlights around the league or anything?

If The Show does not have those features I am curious as to what they do to keep the user engaged in their franchise experience.

The Show does very little for the type of immersion you're asking for. In Franchise mode, you pretty much feel like you're just playing as a team disconnected from everyone else in the league, other than the occasional text messages from your "assistant GM" who gives you a bare bones look at stuff other teams are doing. They used to have generic news articles after every game but that was taken out.

This is something I'm looking for them to improve in before I commit to next gen.

There's an in-game ticker that displays scores of other games around the league in real-time (meaning, other games that start at the same time as yours will progress as the innings go on). The scoreboards around the stadiums will update these as well. I think there are certain mid-game cutscenes that will show the other scores, standings, and such during a season/franchise game.

But no, no actual highlights of other games. With the ability to do quick counts this year, it's much more reasonable to watch an entire game from around the league though (takes way less time). That's about as close as you're going to get this year, though.

This is perhaps the weakest element of an otherwise legendary series.

I would hope to eventually see some type of weekly highlight show/recap in franchise, since they had it in NFL 2k5 (XBox) and College Hoops 2k8 (360).

At the very least, there needs to be better franchise immersion. I shouldn't have to look through the box scores individually to see who had a three HR game or fanned 14 batters. It should be listed on one screen highlighting news around the league with links to the box scores.

This is was actually one thing the MLB 2k series did well (about the only thing it did well -- that and comprehensive user stats, another thing The Show lacks).

iirc teams each had a newspaper summary after each game in franchise mode. That might be back in the ps2 days. Regardless it was a nice inclusion and helped with immersion.

Franchise modes are the main/only mode i play in sports games and the lack of innovation/upgrade's whatever you want to call it to this mode in all sports games over the last generation has been a big disappointment.

Just like the op i have been waiting for a weekly highlight show that would show some of the best plays of the week and other info, am sure there was a NFL game that tried this on ps2 or xbox.

Unfortunately i think franchise is a dying mode in the eyes of developers and just to much work.
