People With PS3 and PS4 MLB the Show 14

For people like me who may be on the fence about getting the PS4 version. In your opinion, is it worth the 60 dollar jump to the PS4 right now, if you already have the PS3 version? Sounds like long load times, bad lighting and of course no MP3 for sounds of the show. I might just wait for a patch on the PS4 before getting it.

Its far from "bad lighting".

There are some issues such as Busch and one or two others in night games but the devs are looking into them.

The rest of the lighting is generally fantastic.

Also if you already have the ps3 version with a trade in it would be more like a $20 or so dollar jump and not a $60.

Not so fast my friend. You have to be a power up rewards member and must've bought it from gamestop for the 20$ trade in offer.

Yeah, this is true. I called gamestop Friday because I was curious. They told me I had to be a power up rewards member. He did say the trade in value for the PS3 version of MLB 14 is 35 dollars. So it will cost me about 30 dollars to upgrade to the PS4. I think the PS3 version looks and plays very well. I'm just not sure the PS4 version is that much better from what I'm seeing in the impressions thread. I'm am up for hearing all the input from everyone to change my mind.

Yes this is true, however the Show has a regular trade value at the moment of $32.50 which is why I said $20 or so depending on where you bought it or any memberships you had.

Also Amazon has a trade in value for it of up to $38 or so.

This. I don't get it. Why would you not want the PS4 version if you have both systems? Why would u be on the fence? Obviously the better game is on PS4. I've been watching crappy streams of the game all weekend and it looks great, at times fantastic. I love the new hitting camera the way the ball comes off the bat! 24hrs from now I'll be driving to town for my copy and glad I have to work later to keep me occupied because this is gonna be the longest day ever! Lol

Here my 2 cents, I have it on both systems. The graphics alone make this a day one purchase. The gameplay is pretty much the same which is great and the ps4 controller put it over the top. They shouldn't have come out with a ps3 version because once you play the ps4 you'll never go back.

Hmm, my local Gamestop (EB Games here in Canada) said nothing of being a rewards member and I specifically said that I bought the game elsewhere and was told that it would be fine, I'd get the $20 trade in purchase price.

That made my decision to not drive to Toronto and get the PS4 version early so if they go back on it, they are going to have an unhappy zukes to deal with, haha.

I was at an EBGames location in Cowtown last week inquiring about the trade in and it appears that in Canada at EBGames locations all we will need to do is present them with a PS3 version of the game in good condition, pay our $20 + tax and we will be given a PS4 copy. The fellow said we didn't even have to have bought the PS3 game at the EBGames stored to be eligible for the trade in.

Of course time will tell. Tomorrow at lunch I will walk across the street from where I work to an EBGames location (same location I visited last week but not the place I picked my MLB 14 PS3 copy from) and attempt to do the trade in and only then will I know if this trade in deal is legit.

Thanks!! This is the kind of insight i'm looking for. So the lighting and framerate are not bothering you? This is great to hear. I saw the picture of Busch Stadium (i'm a Cards fan) with the outfield being completely dark. It's not like that in the PS3 and it kind of turned me off to the PS4 version. Keep them coming guys.

No lighting or frame rate issues here, not saying they aren't present but I just haven't experienced it yet. I haven't played at Busch Stadium.

I also have for both systems and agree that its really not even close. Ps4 version is waaaaay better. Everything just pops off the screen and like someone else said the controller for some reason just feels complety better. For meel the only thing I miss is sound of the show but I really feel like thats gonna be patched in sooner than later and the then the ps3 version will be a distant memory.

It blows my mind that some people dont think its much different but to each their own. I think most people however would agree its fantastic and a must buy.
