Tell me which way to the run the bases?

I'm pretty new to baseball games and must admit I'm tempted to let the AI run the bases for me in season mode just to get a feel for the game, but if I decide to manually do it what is the simplest way in everyone's opinion?
    Analog, classic, ETC?

I having a hard enough time getting hits when I'm at bat much less worrying about base-running controls.

    Thanks for your time

The baserunning controls in this game can be incredibly frustrating, you may be better just letting the AI do it.

Did you look at the manual?

Hold L1 to advance all, hold R1 to retreat all. Left analog point at the runner you want for individual contol. His icon will flash. Then press the base you want him to run to.

You have to highlight the runner you want to advance by pressing the left stick to the corresponding base he's on. Right for first, up for second. You'll know they're selected once their dot on the base paths pulses.

After doing so select the base to send them to using the face buttons on the controller. Triangle for second and so on.

It sounds really confusing, but once you get the hang of it it's rather intuitive and becomes muscle memory.

Thanks for your swift replies guys.. Yes, I did read the manual, but it all seemed too much for my first couple of go's.. I think I might like using the left stick to point at the runner and buttons to choose the base I just have to practice. Would that be the Analog Base running setting?

It's "Default" Base Running Interface, in the Advanced Batting and Baserunning options (press R2 when you're looking at the basic settings)

can you please explain what classic is? Is it easier to use when trying to have a guy on third tag up but have the guy on first stay? That gets me every time.

Re: Tell me which way to the run the bases?

I don't understand how to run the bases in HTTS mode, with analog running enabled. When I want to run from first to second (say, to stretch a single to a double, or to steal), I move the left stick to the right, and that works. But I can't seem to figure out how to advance past third, or from third to home. Which direction is one suppose to move the stick in those two cases?

I have found that up and down always advances and returns a runner. Up being used for advance.
