He assumed the 2 strikes of the generated count equated to 2 bunt attempts going foul.

Yeah first game I ever played with QC I absolutely dominated the Giants and almost threw a no-hitter. It was kinda silly.

I am saying its possible that it was 0-0 and he bunted twice to make it 0-2 or 1-2.

But my point exactly, since the game generated the count I don't know where they got the 2 strikes from without giving me a chance to bunt my guy over. Ruined my whole strategy.

Two things Im curious about and maybe this isnt the appropriate thread for it but what dictates the quick count, or generated count, that each player gets? Is it the pitchers abilities mixed with the batters plate discipline rating and when one is greater then the other it starts in that persons favor and when all things are equal it starts at a 2-2 count? Did SCEA base it on each players individual pitches per AB? While I doubt its that option I figure Ill throw it out there. Now what really muddies the water for me is I swore I heard that the count dictated was based on something yet it seems like everytime I have a pitcher hitting they start with a 3-2 count which in turn flies in the face of the examples I gave for what might be driving the count itself.

Only thing said in the video was it's an algorythym that uses "Pitcher/batter attributes" that dictates the count BUT every player still has the chance to get better counts also..

Well they need to tweak it then as SP's shouldnt constantly start with a 3-2 count like theyve worked the count that way, if anything it should at best be 1-1 but most times 0-2 or 1-2 seems more accurate for that situation.

Just to confirm - SCEA made tweaks to QC a few weeks back on the PS3, correct?

Those tweaks have definitely been applied on the PS4 patch (if there were indeed QC tweaks) right?

I have to say as someone who plays almost exclusively QC it's much better since the tweaks.

I did throw a 1 run no-hitter with C.C. Sabathia on All-Star with sliders from here, but I wouldn't say it makes it so much easier. I definitely walk more batters with quick count than I would without it. Also, starting 2-0 against someone like Bautista or Ortiz also puts you in a tough position. Overall it might be a bit easier but I don't think the difference is very drastic.

                          0-0 count isn't possible.

Well, I have never come close to a perfect game before (I have flirted with no-no's before but never got one) and in my 3rd game ever with quick counts (3rd game playing The Show this year after 2 exhibition games), I used 5 pitchers, 2 of which are average or below average, to combine on a perfect game.

Just guessing here, but with quick counts I would say I had to throw 2/3's or maybe 3/5's less pitches than in a real game. That means a lot less chances to make a mistake and leave one up in the zone or out over the plate. That is a huge difference in my opinion. (I use the pitching meter)

I only wish I had used the record feature. I was just sort of in shock that it was happening at the time. The announcers mentioned it pretty excitedly and the players gathered around the mound and jumped up and down on unison, albeit pretty lamely.

And the quick count feature does need work. There should be more low counts (0-0, 1-0, 0-1) and average pitchers start with way too many 3-2 counts. Still a very, very welcome feature that has me playing Franchise mode intently for the first time.

Re: Quick count pitching is easier - I threw a perfect game

Does anyone know the particulars on how the counts are generated?

I remember reading that, while they are mostly random, they are slightly weighted based on the ratings of the pitcher/batter. So, if you're a team like Cincinnati, Votto is supposed to be more likely to draw a hitters' count than your pitcher will get when he's up to bat.

But I'm wondering if this merely takes into account a guy's overall hitting skills or if it specifically uses ratings like vision or discipline (or whatever) to inform the likelihood of the player getting a count that puts him on his way to a walk or on his way to a strikeout.

Knowing this might impact my scouting/drafting in franchise mode.
