Dropped fly balls: Bug, random event, or lack of skill?

Love everything about The Show, except this:

Sometimes, when moving to the spinning ball marker to catch a fly ball while on the run, when my fielder arrives on the marker and the ball decends, he simply does nothing. No catching animation triggers, and the ball just drops to the ground. It seems to happen like once every game or two. It happened to me again tonight, and cost me a game in my season; a game that was very hard-fought, well-played, and one that deserved a better fate than to be decided by some BS like that.

So since it's becoming commonplace, I have to ask.. is this a bug, is it by design, or am I just doing something wrong? I would think that being on the spinning ball would be enough. Is there more to it than that?

First question is have you altered sliders at all? More importantly the fielding error slider? I ask because I have the same issue and raised it to 7 so Im hopeful thats the reason. In my 3 games today Matt Kemp did it in one and Yasiel Puig did it in another, just kinda stood there and let it bounce off them without making an attempt to catch it.

I also raised errors up but luckily I have not seen that issue.

If you don't set your feet in time it gives off this weird animation where you cant see the ball and it goes off you or over your shoulder its a little ridiculous because this never happens in real life, maybe once in a blue moon. But the idea is getting your feet set.

Nothing is as bad as the lollygagging animation of having the ball than the outfielder slowly going to brace himself at the wall while a baserunner gets an extra two bags. Worst animation in this game by far and has been around for a looooong time.

I too have experienced a similar issue. I will get the fielder near the wall and under the ball at the proper time and the ball will fall in front of them and they kind of lunge toward it late. It's cost me several runs.

This. and this again. This animation makes me want to rage hard and break things in my house.
