    Re: Not Hitting For Power

They need to do away with contact swing or something. If you can't make contact with a normal swing then you shouldn't be able to foul off pitches or put the ball in play by never moving your PCI.

Every time I use contact I ground out. I just usually use normal swing I'll use power swing every now and then I just don't really like the contact swing but I'm also last in the majors in home runs and hitting only like .240 as a team but I think a lot of my struggles have to do with me using the cubs

        Re: Not Hitting For Power

When using the buttons I see there are options for a power swing vs a contact swing. But how about when using the analog stick for batting - do you need to do anything different like perhaps flick the stick less hard (or more hard) for contact swing (or more hard for power swing)?

You press the circle button before pitch comes in for contact hitting. The same for power with square button. The x button is used for regular swing if you decide to change your mind in middle of pitch. you will see the PCI get bigger/smaller when the button is activated.

I've hit several HR's with the contact button. Don't ever want to use the power swing unless you're in a favorable 2-0, 3-0, 3-1 count. Even then it's not necessary. I've been down 0-2 and hit several with the contact button. It's more about working the count, getting into hitters counts, and pouncing on pitchers mistakes.

I think sometimes it's just not there.

I jumped out to a hot start in my franchise. Soriano and Beltran were crushing homers. My other guys were getting extra bags.

All of a sudden for like the last 6-7 games it's warning track balls or zips to the OFers.

I consider a drop down to all star, and right before I do it Cervelli gets me a homer.

Sometimes it's easy to forget that not every game is a SC highlight reel. Players and teams go through slumps where the power is lacking.

IMO don't change much of what you're doing. If you're making contact that's good. The power will come (back) eventually.

              Just my opinion.

Does this still apply when using Analog setting for hitting? If not, do you control contact vs power based on how hard you flick the analog stick up maybe?

Yes, it applies for pure analog and zone plus analog (stick). When using Timing or zone (buttons), you press the corresponding button to produce the act of swinging. Hope this helps.

Exactly, it's baseball. Not every hit is going to be a homer or a double. Stick with it, the power game will come.

So IOW if I am using analog, I press Square for power, then use the analog stick to swing?

BTW, is there a difference between selecting Contact compared to not selecting anything? IOW is contact the default swing type? Or is it a different swing when you do contact vs choosing nothing?

Yes. Before the pitch you choose what kind of swing you want, x for normal, square for power, O for contact. You should feel your controller vibrate with each selection. I use analog too, feels like you are actually swinging the bat.

I'm through my first month using the Rockies and currently have 8 homers with Tulo and 6 with Cargo. I've been using whatever the default hitting is called and actually hit a couple using contact swings!

I have been playing the show since MLB 09 the show --- always with my hometown nats. This year I have had the least homeruns ever. I am hitting aprox. 1 1/2 HR ever series. Conversely, I am getting a lot more bloops and hard grounders for base hits than ever before. Has the power been toned down? I do not think I have changed my hitting approach, and hit more with the 100 loss nats in MLB 09 than I am with their powerful 2014 lineup.

Maybe you can tune it up how you like using custom sliders?

I use zone+timing hitting --- is that keeping my power numbers lower or is it just a slump? I have never had a great feel for analog but wouldnt be opposed to giving it another shot. I know zone hitting would be too easy for me on veteran -- I am getting double digit hits and winning, just would like my power numbers to be a bit higher and on par
