Running controls seem a bit off...

    Two things I've been seeing.

On a double play, I hit the control stick to the right to pick the guy running from 1st to 2nd and then use the slide button to try to break up the double play. Sometimes he slides, sometimes he doesn't. But every time, the batter ends up sliding slowly into 1st.

Second thing, I steal with my runner on first. He goes, pitch comes in and I hit the circle button for a contact swing. With that button press, the player stealing stops for a second mid way to 2nd.

Am I doing something wrong here? Base running interface is set to default.

it's not just you (for the first scenario at least). every time I go to try to break up a double play that happens. take out slide doesn't happen most of the time, but the runner going toward first is sliding headfirst...

    very frustrating.

does the game logic not target the lead runner by default anymore?

and another gripe: I've lost count of how many times a runner on 2nd hasn't moved on a base hit.

I have seen this a few times as well. I think it is a bug of sorts.

My biggest baserunning issue I've seen so far is when I hit and run (or send the runners when it's a full count with 2 out).

The runners that I sent slide into the next base, EVERY TIME. It has cost me a run on several occasions. So, I send the guy from first, and the batter laces one in the gap. For whatever reason, the runner slides in to second, takes ages to get back up, and THEN it registers that I have pressed L1 to keep the runners moving (which, of course, I pushed as soon as I swung, given that it was a hit and run). By this point, the ball is already to the cutoff man and he throws it to third for the easy out.

The only sliding options available (as far as I can tell) are Auto and Assisted. I have it set to Assisted, so I would assume that they don't slide, unless I push the stick to slide. Apparently, not only do they still automatically slide, they also slide when it's completely unnecessary, like the hit and run situation.

Am I the only one experiencing this? Am I doing something wrong?

Report on the Show nation.com that should be something they can patch. I have experienced the feet first slide, trying to break up a double play. Only to find my runner sliding to first...

When the runner slides into first is everyone making sure the lead guy is the highlighted runner?

Yes, that is the buggy part about it. We highlight the lead runner to break up the double play, his icon flashes but then he is unresponsive in the directional slide to attempt a breakup of the double play. Then the guy heading to first performs a head first slide. Which is annoying because I am from the school of "never slide into first base" because it is slower than running through it.

in previous iterations of this game you never had to. in that scenario (only a guy on first) the game logic put you in control of the lead runner. I honestly never made a conscious decision to target the lead runner before attempting a take out slide.
