Re: Trade option is locked in franchise?
Yeah, the main issue was no matter what is written up above in the dialog box it appears to be contradicted by the visuals below because it shows things as on or off with a lock. This insinuates that these options are either on or off and cannot be changed. They are not, however. They should just be removed as that would be more clear. Would have saved me from starting over.
I also wish I would have read about your comment of controlling all teams and allowing cpu to do moves for the other 29 before I restarted. I don't feel like going back now, but would have liked to have been hands off with the option of fixing things for other teams though.Comment

It turns off trades and injuries but allows you to control all tems.

Re: Trade option is locked in franchise?
Is it better to just control 30 teams then set Roster Control to ON? Or just control 1 team and turn it off?
Or OFF no matter what?

Re: Trade option is locked in franchise?
Like I said....
"Controlling"(I paraphrase it because choosing all 30 teams at the start of a franchise DOES NOT mean you HAVE to control them....BUT does give you the ability to if you want to) all 30 teams is the best option IMO.
In the event you want to step in and do something in your franchise for a CPU controlled team you can.
If you choose just one team at the start of a franchise.....it's ALL CPU....all the time. No choice or option to step in.
Setting everything to AUTO for the other 29 teams is essentially EXACTLY the same as using just one team.
You don't have to do anything for those teams.

Re: Trade option is locked in franchise?
Knight do we still have to sim the other games for CPU controlled teams? I really hate that part of the option. Also is there any work around to getting injuries to work when selecting CPU roster control on? I remember a few years back there was a bug that allowed us to get injuriesComment

No...I don't think you can get injuries with it on.

Re: Trade option is locked in franchise?
So to confirm, it is best to "control" (SELECT) every team at the team selection screen. Then, once in franchise, go to Options --> User Settings --> Mode Options, and then change each "non-user" team's options to AUTO--leaving only the team that you TRULY want to control to MANUAL?Arsenal | New York YankeesComment

That's in USER SETTINGS.....SET TEAM ASSOCIATIONS.
So for instance.....Profile 1....named USER1 will have everything to manual. This will be "my" profile...Profile2.....named CPU will have everything set to auto....this is the CPU teams profile.
I want to control the Mets.....
So your list will look like this....
Team.........PROFILE
Baltimore......CPU
Boston........CPU
N.Y. A.........CPU
Tampa.......CPU
Toronto......CPU
...etc
...etc
Atlanta.......CPU
Washington...CPU
Miami..........CPU
N.Y. N........USER1
Philly........CPU
....etc
....etc
S.D........CPU
S.F.......CPU
With this setup......I'm only controlling the Mets.
However....I noticed that in the first off season.....the Pirates let Andrew McCutchen go to FA for some reason(it doesn't happen...just giving you an "extreme").....I don't like that.
Without changing anything....I can simply go to Pitts team page and give any FA an offer(including Cutch).....if they rescind that offer before he accepts...I can do 1 of 2 things.....go to the CPU profile and put FA contracts to MANUAL for a few days....or create a third profile with everything but FA signings to AUTO.....FA signing to MANUAL...and assign it to Pitt for a few days....
Usually just going to the team and making a move is sufficient.(without having to change anything)
Because you chose all 30 teams to start.....while the CPU is playing GM...it kind of gives you authority of the owner....you can still tell it what to do.
Roster moves.....trades....signings.....hiring/firing....you can "overlord" all of those things for the CPU teams.
or....
Don't do anything for them!

Re: Trade option is locked in franchise?
Yes...you need to make to profiles...and simply assign the one with all the mode/gameplay options set for the CPU to the teams you don't want to control.
That's in USER SETTINGS.....SET TEAM ASSOCIATIONS.
