    No idea what to do.

Bases loaded and a flyout. Want the guy on 3rd to tag. What do I press and when?
left stick to the left to highlight runner on 3rd (his yellow dot will begin to flash/pulse) press X

    Done.

Default base running is very easy once you actually know what your doing.

Last night I had first and second, deep fly ball to center pressed R1 to return all...waited for the catch, held down L1 to send both runners to tag up.

I did have a quirk last night though....ticked me off. I had 1st and 3rd and no outs. I ripped a gap double but before I hit it I sent my runner from first on a designed hit and run....once I hit the ball I knew it was going to get into the gap for extra bases so I highlighted my runne heading to second to go home....as he rounded second he stopped and started heading back.....I was flipping out LOL.

This has happened a few times now. Some wonky control issues on 14 that are rearing their ugly head here and there. Along with check swings...that has all of a sudden become a bit wonky. I really really hope a second patch for PS3 is in the works to address some of these control issues as well as the ultra sensitive check swings this year.

I'd like to add to A&S's reply that you of course wait until they catch the ball to hit the X button. Since you asked When I thought I'd clarify. So left stick to the left to select runner on 3B while the ball is in the air (he will start flashing in the runner window), then push X to run home as soon as they catch the ball.

Oh, I see. I was trying to do that in reverse.

OK, so here is one. Speedy runner on 2nd, base hit up the middle, want to score. What is pressed?

Left stick towards speedy runner + X.

L1 (advance all runners) can be used too, as the speedy runner will most likely round third before the batter gets to first (and then you could just keep holding L1 to make the batter go to second if you want).

I have used the L1 thing and mainly how I usually run as I can figure out individual running (yet). I notice guys hesitate sometimes around bases.

When you say "towards the runner", so if he is between 2nd and 3rd, would I go left stick diagonally or would I go toward 2nd.

Thanks BTW. This is a big help. Great game, and my baserunning difficulties are one of my few complaints.

I literally mean "towards the runner", if he's between second and third, push the stick up and to the left (you should see their base running icon pulse).

If you're using L1 make sure you hold L1 through the base to keep the runner from hesitating. Is especially useful if you don't know how many bases you can get.

For example if I hit a liner to right center (with no one on) and I'm not sure if I can get to second I'll start holding L1 when the batter is like half way to first. I'll keep holding it all the way through first to make sure he rounds the base quickly, if I'm going to go for second I'll let up on L1 about halfway between first and second, I want to stay at first right after rounding the bag just tap R1 to make the runner retreat back to first. Rinse and repeat if I'm going to try to stretch it into a triple.

This way can work with runners on base, but it's much much trickier as you have to make sure your runners have gotten all the way around the base before you release L1 to keep them from hesitating/stopping. Also R1 can't be used the much.

Re: A Guide to Steal & Baserunning

I'm okay with single baserunners, but I get confuzzled if I have runners at first and second, say, and I'm not sure how far I want them to advance. If I use L1, the batter will try for second, which I don't want. If I use left stick plus base icon, I often seem to miss one of the two base runners. How do you guys handle that situation?
