Relievers have always been overvalued by the CPU for whatever reason. [

On my Tigers franchise I was able to trade a 37 year old Alex Gonzalez for Tyler Clippard straight up. I was shocked that it went through.

I thought they added something this year to make it near impossible for Franchise players to be traded?
I'm pretty sure they just made that adjustment for online franchise. This is a big let down due to the fact that playing a single player online franchise is beyond frustrating. Also to add you can't use auto fielding which really hurts us simulation type players. Let's just hope they are able to patch in the adjustments they've made to online franchise for offline as well.

Turn them off until July 15th.

To be fair Alex Gonzalez is way overrated in this game. If you update his ratings to reflect the fact he was released by a team that desperately needs a SS that trade doesn't happen.

Disappointing to hear. Don't have the game yet, I'm getting it this week. But is there a way to disable trades in RTTS? Last year I got drafted by the Angels and was excited to play with Mike Trout, Pujols, etc. for years to come.....until they traded Trout traded 2 months into the season to Toronto for a Relief Pitcher.

The trade logic is so dumb in this game, it blows me away.

I just saw the Diamondbacks trade Albers for Sano and Buxton. LOL Seriously.

So exactly what is wrong with trading Joe Mauer for a prospect?

To be honest, I don't know. Same for Lester. He is 30 years old making what 14 million in game in the last year of his contract. There are a lot trades that seem fishy, but it is what it is.

I completely get why people upset, because I am in my Oriole Franchise and 3 weeks into the season I see lots of guys (like Lester 0-3 6.56 ERA) on the trade block. That bothers me, but these CPU GMs aren't stuck having to deal with things like fan outrage, and loyalty so you will see more of these type trades, again I am not justifying them, but a video game AI isn't a GM. It is what it is, but like I mentioned earlier I turn trades off until July 15th sometimes July 10th, but then that only gives the CPU 16 days to make deals. Seems to work for me.

Just my 2 cents, but I do remember one of these threads being started about how the trade logic in the game was broken because Ichiro was traded in their franchise, and Seattle would never trade Ichiro. Later that same year, Ichiro was traded to the Yankees. Look back at that Hanley trade to the Dodgers...some trades in real life don't make logical sense. I usually assume if it's a great player who gets traded in the game, that he created some sort of controversy within the clubhouse. Puts my mind at ease

                          1. "B" potential MR for Mauer seems wrong to me

                          2. Unless ignore budgets is turned on, the Rays taking on a huge contract seems kind of odd to me as well.

                          3. I have no problem with Mauer being traded but the 2 points above seem to kill the realism in the deal to me.

"B" seems spot on to me. Mauer is 31 years old, a catcher (position change or not, he already caught for 8 years), and is not known for his durability.

Don't confuse a potential rating with an evaluation of his career. Potential is supposed to represent well... his potential (for growth and/or longevity), as of today.

I'll give you the budget thing though. I didn't think about that before. Rays are definitely the last team to ever make a trade like that.

But to be fair, that's more of an issue with "team logic" not "trade logic."

Either way there is no chance he would be straight up traded for one B potential.

I agree with you, no issue with him being traded at 31, but there still needs to be more added to the deal than a single player with B potential.

And once again, it's a relief pitcher. For some reason, relief pitchers hold tremendous trade value in the game.
