Pitch Effectiveness Changing

I'm using classic pitching on all star if that matters.

I've noticed pitch type effectiveness increase or decrease from throwing a pitch. I've played about 20 games and just noticed this. A strike or out or strike out raises a pitch rating, a ball or walk or hit lowers it. I haven't exactly figured it out if other things like fouls affect it.

I understand it to an extent but should a pitch effectiveness drop by a quarter if I throw 2 or 3 balls in a row? Is there any way to turn it off or reduce it?

I know it's tied to pitcher confidence but I'm not sure if turning confidence off will turn off the individual pitch ratings. Sometimes though, your pitcher just doesn't have it that day and you'll have to completely abandon a pitch for a game.
