    Weak throws to bases

I'm pretty much new to MLB The Show. (Absolutely LOVING IT.) So I'm breaking myself into the game slowly, using the 'Dynamic' settings for batting & pitching. And for fielding I just have it set for the beginner "press the corresponding button to throw to a base" setting. (Sorry, I don't have the game on in front of me at this moment so I don't know the exact setting names.)

One problem I am having is that some throws to bases -- after the ball is in play -- are just flat out WEAK, like lobs, when I really need to gun them to the base. I even tried turning the option on where you control the strength of the throw. But it didn't seem to make a difference.

How do you throw to bases with power??? Do you hold onto the button? Do you just tap it?

Also, a couple times I ended up throwing to home when I had pressed O (to first base)!!! Was that a glitch? Was I holding onto X for too long following a pitch and the throw to the base was 'queued up'??? Or did I just accidentally hit the wrong base button? lol

I'm a newb to this game, take it easy on me

Hold for power. If you tap it the throw results in a gentle lob.

As for accidentally throwing it home, could you have thought you were pressing X to skip a cutscene or jump to next pitch? I've done that a few times.

As ggsimmonds said, hold for more power. Also you can pre-load your throws by holding the button for the base you want to throw to before the ball is even in your glove (it helps a lot for turning double plays).

        Thanks guys.

Do I have to HOLD the button until the ball leaves the ball player's hand? What about when pre-loading a throw, does that have to be held for any set period of time?

        Thanks!!!

The holding is just to set the power, after releasing button the player will throw the ball as soon as he can (after he fields the ball, finishes winding up, turns to where he's throwing etc.).

Note, sometimes the player will use a lazy throw animation that'll take a lot more time when he's got a super easy groundout for example. So in cases like this he might not throw it as quickly as he can.
