cpu errors, base running and fielding
Haven't seen anyone talk about this yet, But does the cpu ever make base running errors. I don't ever recall getting the cpu in a rundown. Basically it seems that the cpu plays mostly a flawless game other than a few throwing errors here and there, but I can't think of once that the cpu make a error on a catch or make any base running mistakes or even balk for that matter. hopefully this something that can change to give the cpu more of human feel. Just curious if anyone else has noticed this or have actually seen the cpu do make these type of errors.Tags: None -
Re: cpu errors, base running and fielding
I have a couple of times, the CPU runner tried to steal home and the batter up bunted but it flew straight up in the air and my pitcher didn't catch it but the runner on third thought the pitcher would catch it so his momentum turned him around but the ball dropped then he had to turn around n head home but the catcher just tagged him out lol. It was a very weird play. -

Small things, but something that could definitely be improved upon.Comment

Re: cpu errors, base running and fielding
I have thrown to 1st on a single and the runner got to far away before trying to comeback. He was out easily. I believe i have done it at 2nd as well.Comment

Re: cpu errors, base running and fielding
I've definitely seen them drop balls, both on the bases and in the OF. I have both error sliders at 8 though, mind.
Baserunning-wise, they do seem to play it pretty safe. In my experience they seem to stop at 2nd a lot when they could've made it to 3rd, for instance. (But that said I've thrown people out at the plate a good 4 or 5 times.)
Straight up "baserunning errors" and "metal mistakes" do seem pretty limited though, yeah. Have never seen the CPU balk. (I haven't done it yet either though.)Comment

What really bothers me about CPU base running is that there seems to be no consideration to the situation with my runners.
For instance, I just finished playing a game Jays (me) vs. Texas (CPU). Texas had runners at 2nd and 3rd with 1 out. Game tied 2-2, bottom of the 8th.
Batter hit a weak chopper to the first base side of the mound. My pitcher (Hutch) fielded the ball, and I threw to 1st after seeing that the runner held at 3rd. Obviously a smart play by Texas/CPU, especially considering the next batter hit a bloop single and I lost 4-2. Great game, and great situational thinking by the CPU.
However, during a game I played last week, I was in pretty much the exact same situation. Tie game, bottom of the 7th this time. Runner on third, nobody out.
I hit come-backer to the pitcher and noticed my runner on 3rd heading for home. I tried to flick the right analog over to 3rd to select the runner and send him back, but it was too late. He was thrown out at home, batter was safe at 1st.
Why is it that the CPU team's runners can be smart about these types of situations, but my own runners (who are still in part controlled by the CPU) can't?Comment
