Reviving a dead thread but since I just picked up "14" . . . . I did a fantasy draft and Philly's team is ranked 3 in Contact and 5 in Power and 25th pitching. Gonna be a LOT of runs scored in that park LOL

I have only ever played the MLB The Show using the Rockies and I am not convinced that there are more HRs built into the game at Coors Field. Of course it is a big field. I definitely see plenty of doubles and triples there.

Oh and if people want rain delays in their games. Try this. In the middle of the game, pause it. Go do something else and then come back in a few hours. Haha

Thats disappointing I mean a simple cut scene comes up and ump raises his hands ,a rain delay screen then either a play ball or game canceled cut scene and most would be happy but maybe its more a logic thing ?

? so does rain have an effect in this game ? I cant remember I think only like with errors correct ?

So if every outdoor park/field/stadium is in someway effected by external forces, is it safe to assume Tropicana is the only one to be completely neutral?

I think its more of the idea that resources could be better allocated elsewhere. With rainouts you then have to program double headers, make up dates if no other games against said team, program the logic that if the game is meaningless in terms of playoffs to not play it, A.I. to handle his roster accordingly with double headers, program double headers to happen in games that do not have user involvement, etc, etc.....

I get it that they don't want to do it but I believe they are missing the point that it's in real life baseball. So we can't actually mimic what our hometown team is actually doing. It takes a ton of work I am sure and though SCEA MLB The Show guys are good, I really believe it is beyond their capabilities!

MLB 2k is one of the few who figured out how to do it right and I'm sure their programming team was much smaller. Regardless, the game is great and it is what it is every year.

I don't feel they're missing the point, there's plenty things in real baseball that just won't fit into this game or mlb doesn't want in, rain delays, more uniform slots, peds, all star uniforms, classic stadiums, managers messing up filling out the lineup card, closed roofs, etc. etc. At some point priorities kick in and maybe in 15 or 20 years every little thing in real baseball will be in video game baseball, from bench clearing brawls to tattoos to spitballs & everything in between.

I hope players wearing their own uniforms in the All Star Game makes it into the game before the Rain Delays or Rain Outs. Yes Rain Delays and Rain Outs happen in the real world, but sometimes our time for playing the game in the real world is limited and it would be really annoying to be psych'ed to play a game against a rival at the only time you can play that day only to have the game say "No no game today, come back another day".

And as far as the All Star Games are concerned, I am a software developer myself (presently working on a commercial auto insurance application) and I know how I would approach coding each player wearing his own uniform in the All Star Game. But it is only 1 game out of a possible 2430 regular season games and I am on the outside looking in not knowing how the game is structured, not knowing how the resources and memory is managed. So as much as I'd like to see the All Star Game uniforms fixed in the future, it's not the end of the world if it is not.

I don't think they are missing anything. The time and resources that can be used to input rain outs can be used elsewhere in the game.

IMO, the risk/reward of rainouts in the game is in heavy favor of risk. There is really nothing gained by implementing rainouts into the game, outside of the idea that games have to be made up.

I really don't feel like stadiums have different effects like more Home Runs at Coors Field because of the elevation. I think the only effects a stadium would have that factors would just be how it's built. For instance AT&T park will have more triples in Triples Alley because how it's built, Fenway Park will have less left field home runs because they have to clear the monster. I think if other things were factored it would be on the fact sheet. But hopefully I'm wrong

It impacts the game! Strategy comes into play with pitching rotations. The weather affects the fields, the ball, the players traction and abilities. Rainouts can be called after the 5th making the game complete. It could be called early making it a make up game. Sorry they are missing what is in actual baseball. Regardless, this is what keeps it from being a true sim. Risk...........what risk?? Are you telling me that the radio announcer implementation didn't take time when all you have to do is look at the OS poll and see it's not something anyone asked for?

What risk??? They took the code from the PS3 and only added to it. If the risk is finding out they would have to do a complete recode then I would understand. Maybe the risk is reduced frames or no time to spend on elbow pads, shoe strings that do not affect the game.

Stadiums would need to be opened or closed. You may play different, maybe more aggressive if you thought a storm was coming. You might not play your starters if you think it's a game that you don't want to risk injuries. Might benefit you if you are in a hitters stadium and it's raining causing the ball to not go as far. Players slip, fall or drop more balls or have more errors.

Totally missing the boat in my opinion. Should be an option for us that is all I am saying.

The risk is the amount of bugs or issues that could arise from trying to implement the feature. I'm sure if it was something as simple as everyone seems to think they would've implemented it already. And the radio show is something that has been asked for on the forums. We have asked for some type of wrap up show or daily show. Maybe you didn't but to say that it wasn't asked for by the members here is false.

What risk??? They took the code from the PS3 and only added to it. If the risk is finding out they would have to do a complete recode then I would understand. Again the risk is the issues that could arise that cause issues in franchise mode. If a game gets rained out, you then have to schedule a make up date. If this is the last time that two teams are meeting then they have a more difficult time finding a make up date. If they add a makeup game to the end of the year, if its meaningless in terms of playoffs, its scrapped. You have to account for the game not only calling rainouts in your game, but simmed games as well. Then you have to program the cpu to utilize its roster, pitching staff to correctly account for double headers or make up games. Its not as simple as having a screen showing a rainout then you just play the next game. Its not a simple addition. That is the risk I'm speaking about.

Stadiums would need to be opened or closed. You may play different, maybe more aggressive if you thought a storm was coming. This can be done without rainouts. Just have the weather effect the game.

Totally missing the boat in my opinion. Should be an option for us that is all I am saying.
If it was simple I'm sure it would've been implemented.
