    quick counts and runs

my question to you guys. for those that are using franchise, do you see when you use quick counts you are able to produce runs and home runs. are you able to be ontop of the league leaders? are the sim computer games matching up with the games you play?

Ive had 1-0 games. 15-11 game. 4-3 games. 10+ strikeout games. Everything seems normal to me.

I don't get quick counts. IRL you get first pitch hits and outs, can this happen with quick counts? Does it ever start at 0-0? If not, does it not inflate pitch count?

Each batter always starts with at least two pitches in the count, so no- there are no 0-0 counts.

However , each time a batter comes up, 1 pitch is taken away from the overall pitch count resulting in an overall very normal pitch count by the end of the game.

QC's is not for the baseball purists or those who scrutinize all little things in a baseball game.

If you use them you have to sacrifice a few things. I do and it's worth it to me as I'm already 45 games deep in my chise.

one reason i HATE quick counts, I get on base with the 8th hitter and want to bunt them over with the pitcher, but when the pitcher gets up to bat its 0-2, 3-2, etc

they need to change some of the quick count logic for situations like that

I almost see that as a good thing. For way too many years, bunting has been an automatic in baseball games. Now, maybe you will miss putting it down with 2 strikes.

                  Re: quick counts and runs

I use both in my franchise (Indians)...although I just started it the other day after playing a bunch of exhibition games with different teams. My plan is to play one game per series with QC off and really take in the cut scenes, commentary (not stale for me as this is my first year with TS), etc. and the other games will be QC to keep things moving. Last night I played two games one with and one without.

I lost the QC game 5-1, myself and the CPU each had 7 hits. I made some bad pitches and also got burned on some 3-2 pitches that the variable ump setting worked against me...still it was a great game.

The game without QC I won 7-4 and I had 11 hits and worked 3BB's, had multiple deep counts.

Overall I thought both games were a lot of fun and realistic. The QC option will take away some of the realism or strategy, however as NDAlum indicated it's a great way to keep things moving. I would guess that down the road in future games they could have a an option to turn off & on QC's related to the pitcher spot in the line-up...or maybe just have that logic built in that the pitcher just bats without a QC?

Guys, does it not make more sense to use the "Fast Play" mode (instead of Broadcast presentation)? I wouldn't use quick counts, I'd use Fast Play. It really speeds up the game and you have full control of the counts..

I use both. I love playing 25-30 minute games. This will probably be the first MLB game where I actually finish a season!

Although, I have noticed a bit of a 'bug' when using QC and Fast Play; I don't get to warm up my starting pitcher! It drives me insane! I do get to warm up every pitcher I bring in, though, but still.

Depends on the person..if I didn't have qc the opposing pitcher will have 75 pitches in 8-9 innings and most likely my team would have very few walks..

I've tried out fast play, but never quick counts. Fast play gets the game time down to about 45 min-1hr each game.

I'd have to imagine that quick counts AND Fast Play would cut that number in half.

                              In review:

                              Full length game = slow
                              Fast Play= medium
                              Quick Counts= fast
Fast Play & Quick Counts= VERY fast
