Pitcher ratings on the quick-info screen? H/9 etc?

I don't understand the pitcher ratings on the pitcher/batter analysis screen, the one you can get by hitting the big rectangular pause button while batting. H/9, for example, might say 48. I'm guessing these are ratings in which a longer rating bar is better? Even though H/9 is obviously "better" if it's smaller. Is that right?

Also, is STA stamina?

Most of the pitching ratings actually work the opposite of what would at first seem logical.

You want a high H/9, K/9, HR/9 because that means you will give up less hits, get more strikeouts, and give up less HR's respectively. You also want a high BB/9 because that translates as your overall control stat.

Here's the definitions from the Strategy Guide (there are more in the guide itself):


Hitsper9 - Hitsper9 influences how often batters get solid contact against a pitcher's pitches.

BBper9- BBper9 influences how accurate a pitcher is when pitching.

Kper9 - Kper9 influences how often batters will miss when swinging against a pitcher's pitches.

Durability - Durability determines how quickly position players lose energy, which affects how often they need to rest.

Stamina - Stamina determines how quickly pitchers lose energy.

Also take not that HR/9 does not affect gameplay and only works in sims.

Are you sure? Can you link to where you got this info please?

I always assumed it was like any other pitching stat, and it was the number of HR's a pitcher gives up over every 9 innings played.

Hmm; those threads strike me as a tad ambiguous, but I'm new to this game, so I am probably not understanding them correctly.

Developers have came out multiple times and said HR/9 is only for sim.
