Player Lock Lack of Fielding Opportunities

Does anyone else feel there is a lack of fielding opportunities when player locking in exhibition games? I have been player locking lately as various SS throughout the league and only see one to three fielding opportunities per game every game. I was gonna start a SS RTTS but if there is so few fielding chances that kinda defeats the point for me.

Also does anyone else have trouble with runners stealing on them. It seems that the catcher holds onto the ball to long waiting for me to get to the bag.

I am playing SS in RTTS and I get about 7-8 opportunities a game.

Best opportunities in RTTS are 2B, SS and LF (the most IMO). 3B the least..Imo.

They won't throw to an empty base..make sure you're not playing too deep.

Yes I realize that but I just wish if the catcher saw me running to the bag he would throw the ball down there and not wait till I was standing on the bag before he began his throwing motion. When there is a runner on first do you cheat towards the bag a little bit to be ready for the steal?

Also I am still only seeing a couple fielding attempts a game (using Jose Reyes player locked). Is this something that is tied to my fielders ability? Also I have my fielding opportunities set to all so I do not think that is the problem.

I don't know about franchise but RTTS MIF get quite a few opportunities. Not every game of course but they get their share.

I get ya with the C, they can be slow at times sometimes you do have to cheat, for a SS only when LHB are up..you won't cover when RHP batters are up..

ah good point I forgot about that. I have not been paying enough attention but I may have confused the situation by attempting to cover the bag when it is the second basemens responsibility thus confusing everyone.

In regards to rtts I was thinking of starting a SS and I was wondering can you make the majors based on being a really good fielder kinda like a John MacDonald type player or do you have to put up solid numbers offensively to make the majors and remain there as a starter?

I thought of that too, great glove and little bat but I'm not sure..the game seems to be centered around offense. That would be cool though, GG on defense but .230 hitter with little power..

Exactly I really want to create a rtts player who is fast and is a great fielder and on offense be a slap the ball into play kinda guy. Maybe I will give this a try and see if I can get into the MLB with this play style. I think it would definitely be a good change of pace from the generic power hitting first basemen it seems so many other players do (not that there is anything wrong with that)

Re: Player Lock Lack of Fielding Opportunities

I think I have found the problem to my lack of fielding attempts. I was playing around with various settings and I ended up changing CPU teammate hitting from half to all and I now am seeing many more fielding attempts. Not sure why these to things are correlated but it seems that they are. I went from 2-3 attempts a game to now 5-7 attempts.

1B gets a lot if you count receiving throws for force outs. It's a good way to rack up points when you get 5 training pts for every put out at first base.
