How are you pitching? Are you doing the same things late in the game you were earlier? The computer picks up on tendencies and will make you pay if you don't adjust.

I've had problems with my bullpen in previous editions of the game, but so far it's been solid this year. Venters has struggled, but Kimbrel/Walden/Carpenter have been lights out for me.

Yes all my games with the Jays have been really close. Either I get blown out or win by one or two. I used Jannsen a lot and his energy never recovers even after two days off and an extra off day. He blew two saves in a row and now his confidence is shot. Problem is on all star in a better pitcher than hitter so the games that are winnable come down to the 9th when I need that save from Jannsen. Not unlike the real blue jays minus the hitting.

when Confidence and Energy dip, opposing batter ratings shoot up. Notice it next time you are beating a pitcher up. Look at the size of your PCI being bigger than normal against a struggling pitcher. The same rules apply to you.

Also, pay attention to a hitter that swings to a particular pitch even if it's out of the zone. Throw that exact same pitch again, and i bet he swings and misses it again. Certain hitters have weaknesses.

Also if you notice a particular hitter (even if he's a mediocre player) who's batting HOT, stay away from him as much as possible. Try not to throw too many fastballs at him, go off-speed and go down and away and hope he swings and misses. Otherwise, walk him. If you try to man up and challenge a guy who's batting HOT, he will smoke you like a pipe. Especially if it's in late innings. I've seen it happen.

The first part... YES! I was just playing against the Dodgers as the Tigers. Puig is just like Austin Jackson a few years ago (and to some degree still is), he swings at that low and away slider. I struck him out 3 times with that same pitch. All i could do was shake my head.

The second part... This is true as well, and you might even notice it with your RTTS player. When you're cold, you have to be much more selective and patient at the plate, but when you're hot... everything is a hard hit ball
