How to time avoiding Super 2

I'm playing as the Cards with OSFM Opening Day rosters. I'd like to call up Taveras but I want to avoid him falling under Super 2 in a few years. How can I time it so that he avoids Super 2? Around what date should I be able to call him up but still avoid Super 2 arbitration? I understand its based on the top 22%, but I'm unsure of how to gauge whether or not he will fall in that area. Just best guess?

I don't need to rush and call him up. Jay has had a great comeback year for me and is playing solid enough where I don't need Taveras. (Although when he does get called up, I'm going to trade Adams, but that's another story )

Assuming the season would end on September 24th, (idk when it does, last Cardinals' game is the 21st), the earliest you should call him up is July 1st. This would give him 85 days of service time (0.085 in game), avoiding the needed 86 days to be eligible to become a super 2, thus avoiding a potential 4 years of salary arbitration, instead of the standard 3.

Otherwise, you're best off calling him up now, and having him have service time the whole year as to avoid the 4th arbitration (which can get very, very expensive, believe you me). 172 days is a full year. Super 2's hurt, as they only are able to be renewed twice instead of thrice.

    Hope this helps!

Ah. Well I just searched the cardinals schedule, last one I saw was the 21st. In that case, I would call him up at the very earliest on July 8th, though I would probably just wait until the Allstar break.
